Witter stamina got never proven in his prime. He would often just blow them away early, or just play a negative game to get through the 12 rounds (Judah).

Witter's opponent was diabolical. For the first four rounds he just bull rushed Witter and it was an ugly mesh of constant clinches and Witter hardly threw anything of note. Then from the fifth onwards Witter looks absolutely exhausted and he was the one looking to hold. It got steadily worse and descended to an absolute farce, he fell the the floor a handful of times each round, mostly due to blatant exhaustion.

In the final round he literally clung for dear life. It was the absolute worse excuse for a boxing match I have seen in a very long time. I was cursing the referee for not throwing Witter out (he deducted a point from Witter) and the crowd jeered. Witter needs to retire - it was a very sad end for him losing to a bum like that and especially with the 'performance' he put in.

Ugly, ugly fight. Witted didn't want to be there after Lupo started roughing him up.

His engine was so rusty at 147lb, that I dread to think how poor he would have been at 140lb against a prime youngster like Khan.

Gone are the days of Witter doing a back flip at the final bell, he was falling on the floor with exhaustion so much he got a point deduction in round 9.

The opponent was a bullish fighter, but had little punch variety and not much snap in his shots. He was like a poor Baldomir - he just marched forward to land his own.

Whilst Junior was trying to fire flashy hooks and crosses in the early rounds, he just resigned himself to holding and rabbit punching the body in a clinch.

At 36 years old, that style is hard to pull off when your heavy and lacking elite fitness.

I know the trend is to give Witter a kicking on here, but I actually do pity him in some ways. He never got the big breaks and has been a fairly honest British boxer who never got that 'pension' fight.

Popularity aside, I see a bit of Jamie Moore in his situation. The right fights and the right time just didn't come for one reason or another. Too risky for too little rewards ?

- actually credit to Hennessy for getting him 2 x WBC title shots, but the money 'names' is what i mean.

Whatever happens now his window of talent has gone. He can hawk himself round the domestic welter scene and earn a couple of bob if he so wishes - and to be honest I dont think financially he has much choice.

Perhaps if Matt Hatton loses to Alvarez, it's a fight that both men could sell. Outside of that, I'm not seeing any other high profile fight on the radar with the exception of the other ex-world champion, ex-light welter Paulie Malignaggi.

But when I compare Paulie's welter debut, he seems like he still has plenty to offer. Wheras Junior unfortunately does not.

He's 36 and was a fighter who relied on reflexes and his legs and had been out for ages. Answer to why he looked so bad is'n't rocket science is it?
