Gavin v Mayweather sparring !!!

Post by jessi »

Maybe im getting way way carried away, but can arnie and frank push as hard as possible to get frankie out to the states to train and spar with fmj ! why ? because if khan can win olympic silver and regually spar pacman, im sure frankie (world amateur gold medalist) can go one better, i know mayweathers busy right now with other issues but im sure warrens contacts could make it happen, after all floyd keeps saying how much he loves the british. i think frankie and arnie would benifit so much from a week or two around fmj training, and i know frankie would hold his own, what do you guys think ?

Sounds great in theory, not so sure how it works in practise. I would have thought he gets those sorts of requests all the time from boxers from all over the world. I know Degale and a few others went over there not so long back but that was only for a day or so. Maybe if the Pac fight comes off and he needs some southpaw sparring and wants someone younger and fresher than Corley? Would be good for him, no doubt aboout that. Not sure what Arnie would learn from Roger other than Pac is on 'roids though.

yer i did think mayweather probably gets alot of requests, i suppose roger would be hard to work alongside but im sure they both wouldent turn it down.

Mayweather probably isn't in training at the moment and definitely won't be sparring. The broader plan should be to get Gavin over to the states to do some concentrated sparring in a lot of different gyms - the talent pool is just a lot deeper than over here.

Khan surely has benefited from sparring Pacquiao but also the hundreds of other boxers that visit the wildcard.

Cheers Jessi, Frankie was very good but that was second gear to what I no he can do! Ronnie is much better than he showed (much better) but I think the experience of fighting on sky live for the first time will improve him mentally and try not to impress so much next time :TU:

if any fighter has the chance to get to the states and sparr the best out there id say yes give it a go cause you will learn more out there than in a gym in manchester, liverpool or birmingham

I dont think its a case of the trainers are better but rather the amount of talented boxers out in the states is greater and thus the sparring is better.

Hefron looked good, he's young and keen and looks pretty heavy handed. Frankie pulled away and is a spiteful little git at times, whacking away. You get the impression he's a quireboy who can box well but has no pop in his punches; that is not the case. He is setting out to beat the other bloke up.

ah forgot about the young lad Ronnie, over eager but you could see he had pedigree and handle himself in a tear up. Good chin too by the looks of it.

I was thinking if thats the worste he gets then his best must be pretty damn good.

Can't see Ashley as a walkover hes British champ, but Frankie will read him within the first 2 then it's game over for him.

im talking from fact waterboy,i took a lad down to west ham boys club to sparr someone in 2006,it was ash theophane,he was a stand up straight style fighter still tough but no movement. the same guy i took down sparred ash before his title fight on saturday and ash was a totally different fighter from that of 2006,he was slick, loads of head movement and tricky with his shots this is from his time in the states imo

I think Ash takes too long to get into the fight and he won't always have the chance to peg back the scores in the second half of the bout. I very much doubt he would fight Gavin anyway.
