Has Big Larry Been Back On Since The Fight?

Post by keithmoonhangover »

Larry always seems like such a canny lad, when you read his posts. A loss like that must be pretty hard to take, but has anyone heard from him?

I dont think responding on a boxing forum is paramount to him, at the moment.

Especially when you probably have some twat saying stuff like, 'Hahaha you got KTFO....'blah blah.

The fact boxers post here at all is fantastic, yet some people are blatantly nasty.

There is a line between calling things, regardless who they are, how you see it. Sometimes, some posters just post stuff just to be a pudendum.

Prob feel a bit down in the dumps id think...Losing to Mcdermott who is a gatekeeper for the Brit heavys&losing in that fashion..Larry comes across a top bloke on here, but has been exposed&not going anywhere unforetunetly...Forget that loss,no boxer who wants to go places loses to Peret.... Shame but its true....

not a bad call, i would imagine Larry will feel a bit let down with his performence when watching the fight back but he has to learn from it and get back in the ring. I always knew it was a tough fight and although i thought Larry would come through i wasnt expecting him to rush out in the first round as he did. McDermott is a decent boxer and i hate to say it but Larry played right into his hands in that 1st round when he should of been having a look and not rushing in.

I hope Larry comes back on here as he is a top fella :TU:

I hope hes does come back on here,he is a top fella...but this is a brutal sport!!! I cant see where he will go from here,as mentioned prizefighter could be the only decent option,Ian Lewiston would be a good fight, but i wouldnt favour him in that, forget the top brit level because he wont ever get there...

McDermott is a solid British title contender and I don't think winning a European title is beyond him either.

Agreed. McDermott has always been good his problem is the weight he's carrying. Even when he's fat he's got a pretty decent workrate and is far from slow; it frustrates me that he simply never bothers his arse to diet properly and make the best of his considerable talent. I'd love it if he could step it up a level or two because he is a really decent lad. And before anybody says anything about body type or he does this or that and everything else and the weight still won't come off, bollocks. If you diet properly, weight comes off; if you don't diet properly, it doesn't. Simple.

As to Larry. He'll be back. Maloney was moving him at the right pace for a guy who is new to the game. Warren has a more sink or swim mentality - especially with guys who don't sell a boat load of tickets. It was a bit too soon for the McDermott fight as Larry's fundamentals still need a fair bit of tightening up. As I said in another topic, he needs to get back in the gym and box and box and box... He should also get every Earnie Shavers fight he can get his hands on and look at how Earnie used to fight and keep himself covered up.
Somebody once said 'You can't outrain a bad diet' I don't think he is cut out for baywatch but he could get down to 16 stone easily enough - and welcome back MM! Good to see you on here again! :TU:

Larry is a nice guy. I doubt anyone would have the front to take the piss. McDermott is deffo better than he looks, not that it's hard.

Good to hear from you. Though I picked John to win, you still have a massive say in the heavyweight scene, you'll be picking up your fair share of scalps in the future. No time to be despondent! You'll be back to collecting green boxes on your boxrec record soon enough! :TU:

PS: And you are still damn sexy!

Hey Larry,

Thanks for coming back. Boxer or not, it's a pleasure to have you here, just like with Mooresy (and all the others, Martin Power, Ash Sexton, etc.)!

(I wish Smigga and Bellew would post again)

:TU: Wish you all the best Larry. And fair play to Mr Warren as well. I've been critical of him in the past but it's important to give credit where credit is due.

mcdermott is an underchiever, he has very good skill's & his jab is great. but like macho said if the guy could transform himself from a blumonge he could be a force as he cant move in & out as his weight makes him to static.

i dont know were larry goes from here, he needs loads more expieriance & has been showcased abit too soon.but i wish him all the best & hopefully he can re emerge.

Nice one for coming back on Larry, there are many that don't.

It was always gonna be a very tough ask against John. Learn the lessons and comeback stronger. Good Luck for the future mate

Not sure if you will see Paul Smith anytime soon. Seem to remember he has had a few run ins with fellow fighters and a few posters and since his loss to DeGale, he probably doesn't really need the hassle some posters would give him.

As for Tony B, probably got a little fed up with some of the negative stuff some people have been posting, must admit, if i was a boxer too and some posters we going on, the way they do, nothing would please me more than landing a flush 1-2.

well didnt you hear from him when he spoke after the fight on sky tv? Or does he need to repeat himself to u personally on a boxing forum? Show some respect to the fighters, they have a lot going on at the best of times, let alone when there is a sudden upheavel in their proffesional career like larry experienced, i know the mans been on here since to reply and state all is well, but still i could have seen this thread go the way of the smigga one if it werent for everyone else being respectful
