It kind of died a death when TV said they were not going to broadcast fights for it anymore. It been going rapidly downhill since it's president John Robinson passed away before then.

We've just got some pretty dubious Commonwealth title fights instead.

Ricky Hatton - 15 defences, it sounds incredible now that he defended that worthless piece of sh!t 15 times.

I still think it'd have been better to have Commonwealth & European titles, some Intercontinental fights vs the Americans and even winning the British title outright (the proper way) within those 16 WBU fights....

Wasn't there an Australian bloke that used to work for them and turn up at all the fights? Mick something? or am I getting mixed up with something else. I remember drinking with him after a couple of shows.

I have a vague recollection of someone (Oliver??) suggesting the forum chip in to raise an amount (100k i think) to take over the organisation and make it credible. A bit like the way the non league club was bought by a syndicate (Ebsleet I think it was). The forum couldn't have done much worse than the state the WBU was in at the time, well, raising the money might have been an issue but other that :OhYes:

I have to say Simon Fox is not a prick Tear-Up, just incredibly parsimonious, and you wouldn't be calling him any names if you got on the wrong side of his wallet. :box:
