I was there that night, it was a wonderful fight, If I remember rightly Naz was on the bill and came in on a flying carpet above all the fans heads, although that might have been another night.

Neary/Ward really was a cracker though, enjoyed the night.

Cracking fight, but despite some good moments - never felt like he was going to take Ward out.

The third round was incredible, neary thought he'd got him and put him on the ropes relentlessly winging in vicous hooks, the way ward came back is the reason he's so well respected, one hell of a warrior

did you watch it live???
because neary trained so hard to make 10st, you can see the effort he had to make getting the shot's out.it was like he was punching through treacle :!: if you have ever been weight drained you recognise it straight away.he wasnt dead at the weight he got beat fair & square.

I filmed this show from the balconey at the arena, about 30 mins before naz's fight, security made everybody move from that area, as Naz wanted to warm up in that area, (he never did) I had to stay as I was filming from that position, it was outside the changing rooms of the 2 main events, a few minutes later this American black guy was chatting to me about the boxing, we spent about 15 mins talking about boxing, at the end he said he had to go, , I said ok, my names Eric Guy, and gave him my card, incase he wanted to buy a video (salesman in me), he said thanks, my names Puff Daddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That night was a good night - Frank Maloney got me a pass into that show - managed to sit next to George Foreman in between his TV work - a rather entertaining evening.

got this on DVD a few years ago. really exciting fight. there were lots of terrific battles for those bauble titles around that time, around that weight (i also like neary-scheepers, and most of the ayers-dunne-rigby battles).

the way ward went southpaw and nailed neary with the lead right hooks, made me wonder if john murray (vs meager) and anthony crolla (vs watson) had been watching this fight, in their emphatic british lightweight title winning efforts.
