For me boxing is a very lot to do with how hard ya can bang, and who else could bang harder than the one and only prince naseem hamed

Re: biggest puncher in their division ?????
Is that you, Nas?
Re: biggest puncher in their division ?????
I was watching a youtube montage thingy of Nonito Donaire yesterday and that man is frightening.
(Julian Jackson and Terry Norris were by far the most powerful and fastest hitters I've seen; I'm still not sure how they didn't kill someone).

Re: biggest puncher in their division ?????
Biggest hitters i've seen from these shores were Wayne Alexander and Nas- they had weird power. They were pioneers in terms of results - always chinning people who hadn't been stopped etc...
World level, I think Jackson is the obvious choice but Felix Trinidad carried his power up well too.
Norris was a funny choice Simon- yep a big puncher but surely more noted for his skills. Top fighter though

Re: biggest puncher in their division ?????
yer true, when i think of punches tho i think of the old days i never think of the here and now,i think in todays boxing there is only manny who knocks people out in devastating fashionThe Dark Destroyer wrote:Manny Pacquaio has a case, he's carried his power through several divisions. I read in a boxing mag once that Emanuel Stewart said that Naseem Hamed was one of the hardest punchers he ever held the mits for

I dont think that manny is really a one punch ko artist though,i know he knocked hatton out brutally but his he tends to knock people out with an accumalation of shots and a high volume, dont get me wrong though he's still a big puncher. The Dark Destroyer wrote:Manny Pacquaio has a case, he's carried his power through several divisions. Re: biggest puncher in their division ?????
An absolute no contest IMO. Julian Jackson the hardest puncher I have ever seen.

Without a doubt, the amount of opponents that he put down for the full count was amazing, many of them unconcious

David Haye has to be the biggest puncher and probably biggest pound for pound puncher in boxing today.
Naz had incredible power in his day.

Nah, just take a look at who he's been knocking out ( Audley ? Ruiz ?? China chin Macca ? ) and I think that disqualifies him straight off.Happy Slapper wrote:David Haye has to be the biggest puncher and probably biggest pound for pound puncher in boxing today.
Safe to say the two biggest punchers P4P today come out of the Philippines. And for my money, Donaire looks an even bigger puncher than Manny.
Re: biggest puncher in their division ?????
Jackson & McClellan the obvious ones.
I guess if you wanted to do a division by division, off the top of my head:
Heavyweight - Shavers. Foreman, Baer
Cruiserweight - Bell, Qawi
Light Heavy - Moore, Foster, Fitzsimmons, MSM
Super middle - Benn, Park
Middle - McClellan, Ketchell, maybe Graziano
Light Middle - Jackson, Hearns, Norris has a decent shout, Mugabi
Welter - Cuevas, Langford (could rate him anywhere), Robinson
Light Welter - Tsyzu, Bailey
Lightweight - Joe Gans, Duran, Rosario, Ramirez
Super Feather - Arguello, Freitas
Feather - Saddler, Hamed, Danny Lopez, Esparragoza, Moreno
Super Bantam - Gomez, Junior Jones
Bantam - Olivares, Zarate, Zamora
Super fly - Galaxy, Donaire
Fly - Wilde (I dislike rating him so highly but you can't argue with his record on paper), Vic D
Light fly - Carbajal, Sajatoraong (sp), gonzalez
Straw - Finito Lopez

Of today's fighters, you've got to mention Donaire after last weekend, I'm still having nightmares about that left hook & I'll bet Fernando still doesn't know what day it is.

Re: biggest puncher in their division ?????
Katsidis has raw power but he's too unpolished enough at the top level and consequently loses. A little like Shavers but at least big Earnie got some good wins at the top level and had genuine one-hit power. Even at b & c level Katsidis is not scoring one punch KOs, he's either going pts or TKO.Ash-Weston wrote:Cant believe no one has mentioned Katsidiscakes wrote:Can't believe no one has mentioned Tyson
Re: biggest puncher in their division ?????
Yeah, nice list orb. Joe Louis was the only one who immediately came to mind as an omission.
