Skelton v Williams card shaping us nicely

Just reading at BBN, this card is really shaping up well. Top of the bill we have Matt Skelton v Danny Williams, along with Amir Khan's pro debut, Michael Jennings v Jimmy Vincent, plus Ryan Rhodes, Takaloo and Tony Docherty. Now if we can only see a few less TBA's and some interesting opponents added for the "house" fighters we could really be in business.

Looks like a pretty solid card alright, forget the TBA's how about getting Takaloo in with Rhodes, i know Rhodes is at Middleweight now but surely a catchweight agreement could be made, seems like a good crossroads fight.

You know it's just not going to happen. It should do, because neither of them are going anywhere right now, but it won't happen.

if the fights on itv will show Jennings V vincent as well as Skelton v williams and khan debut.

What time do you think they give the boxing programme?

I do worry about this undercard not being shown on TV, I am sure that good old Alledge has got the answers to this before making this undercard.

I'm sure some will be on ITV 2 etc.

To be honest I think itv could balls this up based on past performace of sport.
Premiership coverage an 80 minute programme but less than 20 minutes highlights, due to things like the tactics truck.
THey should show undercard live on itv2 then main bouts on itv1 if they have any sense.

Warren has played a blinder putting Mick Jennings on this card. He (and more importantly his fans) are from literally 5 minutes up the road from The Reebok. He's guaranteed a packed house for the whole show.

1. Amir Khan - large fan base already.
2. Mick Jennings - local lad with plenty of support.
3. Danny Williams - Muslim heavyweight - Khan's Asian fans will get behind Danny because of shared faith.

When is ITV4 set to launch? That is the most likely channel for boxing, it's dem' is going to be males aged 18-40 (approx).

Not sure about khans fans getting behind danny because of his faith. They dont even know who danny williams is m8. In this regard they kinda like most of the fans who pack the MEN out to watch ricky hatton - "Yeah i m well into boxing....bernard hopkins, oscar de la hoya? who the hell er they?"

Itv 2 shows the other champs league game also it showed the uefa cup final that will be used surely. they usually show celeberity fat club usa or other shite like that.

Yeah I'm sure that religion ain't the reason people are following Amir, he will have a pretty big young asian fan base, but judging by the comments on that Amir fansite, they aren't hardcore boxing fans.

Most local Khan fans are in the same mould as Khaliq fans - cheering the local boy for his roots. Not trying to be racist here but the Asian, and particularly Muslim Asian population, cheer for their own regardless of anything else.

A couple of seasons ago I had the opportunity to dress up in a bear costume and be Warwickshire Cricket Club's mascot for a home game against Surrey. My mate who works for Warwickshire said that the crowd was enormous in comparison to usual because all the local Asians, who love their cricket but who never normally go to see their county play, had come to support Surrey who had AN Pakistani playing for them (I forget who, apologise). I was chatting with the young Asian kids, all of whom had fat Brummy accents, and all of whom were supporting Surrey to the hilt.

It perhaps didn't help that I was trying to get them to support Lancashire, but never mind that.

I happen to be a "young asian lad" if u can call a 20 yr a lad and although i dont know amir khan personally i know a lot of ppl who know him if u know wot i mean! Asians do tend to get behind their own if their doing well in sport, primarily because we dont really have any british asian stars in sports because asian parents are pretty strict, forcing their kids to go to uni and if their kids have brains to do medicine,law,dentistry, pharmacy or engineering. The religion doesnt really matter because im hindu and i still get loadsa old aunties in the temple coming upto me asking me if i watched the amir khan fight! ( everybody knows im a boxing nut and i box amateur)
