Joe Calzaghe, undeniably the greatest super middle weight of all time. (Really, I dont think anyone else at 168 even comes remotely close, he is the undeniable guy at 168)
But in terms of pound for pound, all time greats where does Calzaghe rank?

He is very underrated on this forum. But he was a true great of the sport. He always seemed to pull something out that was needed to win. He had a big heart, a great chin, his footwork and ability to get in and out of range, also his timing was fantastic and his stamina was tremendous also. He did lack power due to his fragile hands but he made up for that with a punch output very rarely seen. He beat Kessler,Hopkins,Eubank,Lacy,Roy Jones,Brewer,Bika which might not be as great as some other legends resume, but that was not his fault. And to think he stepped up to LHW and beat Hopkins and the ref in his backyard was quite impressive. Of course the haters will always say this and that. Thats what haters do. I would rank him around the 50\60 mark p4p. And yes he must be the best 168lb pug of all time.
The haters will come in on this and try there best to degrade this great champ.... But at the end of the day when JC dies he will have on his headstone "Undefeated champion"
It seems that undefeated champs are disliked on this forum.

Joe was a great fighter.
His record is pretty much in line with other greats of the past 20 years.
Guys like Holyfield, Pac, Hopkins and Barrera stand a little higher because their records are superior.
As a fighter though Joe would be a terrible opponent for anyone to face.

Was there any point to even mentioning Roy Jones? Calzaghe beat a shot to shit Roy Jones and that win should not be mentioned when trying to show how impressive Joe's career was. Brewer and Bika (who loses every time he steps up) aren’t really worth mentioning either, at least when you are trying to figure out his all time ranking.
Calzaghe was a very good fighter, but there is a clear lack of top names on his record and that has rightfully led to criticism. It doesn’t matter if it wasn’t his fault didn’t square off with better names.

That I agree 100%. He was a very good fighter. However, I would not classify him as great. He got some good wins in Kessler and Hopkins. However, the fight vs Hopkins he almost lost and Hopkins was like 40+. Roy please he was so washed-up its not even funny. Lacy was way over-rated and Bika has never been that good. Eubank was at the end of his career. Just because he was undefeated does not mean much because of the quality of opposition. Look, it’s fine to criticise Calzaghe’s record. I don’t have an issue as long as you’re prepared to do the same to others. Jones’ career was hardly much better.
Hopkins was the champ when Calzaghe beat him and has gone on to beat more top fighters. I don’t think you can really take that away as not a good win. Okay, some think Hopkins won but Calzaghe still fared better than anyone else has against Bernard in a long, long time.
