Angulo? Where's the fight going to be? Sheffield or Mexico? He's currently banned from the US and US TV won't touch him, neither will Arum.

Basically, the short of it is that Angulo was in the US illegally, after being deported once he came back and didn't tell either Shaw or Arum. They assumed he was here legally. Someone got wind of it late last year and Arum basically said oh he picked teh wrong time to be an illegal immigrant and HBO won't touch him now. there was a huge long press release from Top Rank last year, Arum quoted verbatim etc.

This was like..I dunno, October last year? I've heard nothing since but can't imagine that the situation has changed.

So no manager, promoter or TV to cover him in the US. Sure Suliman will come to his rescue but he's effectively banned himself from fighting in the US?

I dunno, maybe it's changed since? Angulo certainly didn't seem too bothered about hiding when he was ringside for Mora/Mosley.

I give Rhodes a decent chance here, Angulo Is unbelievably one dimensional, I think if Rhodes can get through the first couple of rounds he could use angles and outbox Angulo, it would be a tough one for him but winnable

Great stuff. Ryan and his team deserve this opportunity, and I think it is one they will win as well. Ryan has matured into a world class fighter.Really pleased to hear this news.

Rhodes has been plagued by a lack of momentum, and deserves a shot like this before Father Time catches up with him. I think he could pull it off - would be a nice story if he did. Fair play to the lad, I hope it happens.

Don't rate Angulo at all. Cintron boxed circles round him for many rounds and it was only towards the end of the fight when Cintron gassed that Angulo started winning rounds. The official scores were 8-4 on all cards with Cintron giving the last 3 away through tiredness. I think Rhodes would have the power and ability to do a number on Angulo. The Yanks would take notice if he did and would hopefully lead to bigger and better fights.

angulo is very strong but he could be very weak at 154. he struggles to get down to light middle big time and he has had many sluggish performances (basically if he doesn't stop the guy early). he should still be rated well in the WBC (obviously the elim tag). with his troubles with US TV and american govt, it could be aperfect time to grab a top rated fighter, just when it seemed rhodes was getting pissed on by the WBC. who's promoting rhodes, and are they capable of bringing over the troubled mexican? angulo was a big draw in america. has he been drawing big in mexico? is he a big enough dela over there?
