He can only fight the bloke in front of him. Who he fights is up to the matchmakers.

he beat a guy with a record with 1 win and 1 loss. lets not go nuts about it.

he can bang, but he has zero defence so he will need an early win against the better guys or he just struggles with condition after a round or 2 and will get picked apart.

fans want big ko's and ben will create interest for boxing if he fights more often.

Ben also KOed Hopoate, a man who went on to be Australian Heavyweight Champion in his first fight. He must have some ability. If you can stop everybody in the first round you don't need much defence.

that's a silly comment.

yeah and that will keep happening when he steps up and up will it? 1st round ko's? lol. cause if he wants to be successful he won't ever need to defend himself huh? and no one said he had no ability ffs, grow up.

and beating hoppa doesn't mean too much because john went into that fight blindly, obviously knowing nothing about his opponent cause he has zero defence either but was in with a guy who bangs like ben. his team should never have put hoppa in there with such limited ability. it was just too risky for john at that stage of his boxing career.
credit to ben for winning but he'd been fighting for years so its not like it was the first time he'd put gloves on.

edwards' was a debutant...to say they shouldnt have put him in with a debutant is silly.

no it isn't. it depends who the hell the guy is. its like an amateur having his 1st pro fight. some were shit and some were very successful. so it depends on who the guy having his first fight.

so hoppa's team should have been happy if it was felix savon having his first pro fight? lol. cause he would be a 'debutant' as u say.

Yeah I know what you mean buster and I agree. Ive been watching Ben also and his defence isnt much and at times his head is a sitting duck. I think he fights by the principal that a good offense is the best defence and with that power it helps his will. I think his defence (if not fixed) will constantly be exposed by taller fighters with good defence and a good right cross/overhand right.

Hopoate had won 6 of 7 fights at that stage. At Ben's age, who says he is going to step up too far anyway? He is making a quid out of knocking fighters out.
People pay to watch him do it. That's what prizefighting is about. You make as much money out of it as you can before it gets to be time to get out. It is not for intellectuals.

Nobody said he was going to take on the Klitschkos.

I would fight SBW for free but its not going to happen.

In regards to the Overeem fight, i fought the best mma and kick fighter in the world and i knew the only chance i had was to jump on him early and it back fired...he's a very experienced guy and he knew i was going to do that and fought me perfectly, waited till i throguh evreything and cracked me a beauty. After that i had nothing and was sloppy and desparate and he took me out. That was my first fight at the top level and the experience was pricless.

For the record i wont be fighting for K1 anytime soon, without going into any details they have been very unprofessional and im very dissappointed with how they do business. I didnt run away from Overeem nor would i run from anyone, im not the best fighter in the world but i am a real fighter and i look forward to proving that to all the boxing fans as i already have to the kickboxing fans.

As ive said before i have been inactive in boxing as kickboxing is how i make my living and no boxing purse i have been offered even comes close to what i make kickboxing so the money does matter at this stage as it is my livelyhood.

And as for the conditioning, i train my arse off all the time. I have gassed in a few fights but in all those fights i have taken a lot of damage and getting hit...especially in the legs just sucks the life out of you. I dont take anyone lightly and train very hard for all my fights but sometimes it just doesnt work out.

I will be giving the boxing a big crack after all my kickboxing commitments for the time being are forfilled after July. Im not getting ahead of myself, im know im only a baby in boxing at the moment.

Thank you for all the kind words and win or lose i look forward to putting on some exciting fights for all the Australian boxing fans.

so long as it is against good opposition, yes. Knocking out sub par competition won't bring in the big bucks I wouldn't have thought...

Maybe someone like Big Daddy Browne would be good. Both relatively inexperienced pure boxers with decent records in other aspects of the fight game...
