Sad end for Tyson as he quits after the sixth round against McBride, after all the bollocks he's come out with in the last couple of days , saying he's a changed man and a nice guy, he trys to break McBrides arm and headbutts him in the fifth round . Then quits in his corner.

Very sad ending, after the first two subdued rounds I was thinking Tyson is out to show he can still think in there and show an improved stamina. Wrong, he was begining to show signs of fatigue at the end of the 3rd.

True, I managed to call it as it happened - the fight being over after 4, the retiring on the stool. Ended up greatly irritated that this shite was on UK TV, when Cotto - Abdulaev (class fight) was happening around the same time.

A quote of mine from yesterday

Two ways I see this fight going.

(1) Quick blowout win for the former Champ over a slow, easy to hit journeyman.

(2) The big, strong lumbering Irishman wrestles his way through the initial onslaught then the shell of Tyson quits, get injured or DQ'ed etc.

Ok I was sitting on the fence a little there but when I woke up this morning and heard the result on Radio 5 I was not shocked. I stated on another thread that if McBride won it would NOT be a huge upset.

This was only the second PPV I didn't buy. I wasn't going to pay for either a quick KO or to see a shell of a former Champion fall apart in front of my eyes.

Will I miss Mike Tyson?

The man? No.

The fighter? Not really, maybe a little. He was exciting up untill 10-15 years ago but lately has became almost a freakshow. His entertaining years as a fighter was nearly a generation ago.

Sad, very sad. But that's life, father time beats us all in the end, people come, people go, but the world keeps on turning.

The day Tyson first won the Title and the USA commontator said those immortal lines "Berbick is down and we have a new era in Boxing" were very true.

Now we wait for those lines to be spoken again. It may be next years, it may be 50 years before it happens but as long as there is the sport of Boxing It WILL happen. Why? because it always does.

Like I said times change and the world keeps turning,

Kind of puts Danny Williams into perspective as well doesn't it peeps?

I've a feeling this fight was a fix.

Tyson probably bet a few million on himself to lose in the sixth.

Tyson lost another multi-million payday losing this, so i doubt it.

I really think this is the end, it's ended his ppV days, and that means no more big paydays, it's over.

Tyson shouldn't fight on, there's no money left in it for him now after losing to Williams and McBride back to back, who wants to pay to see him now. Tyson isn't even top 50 now.

Did you see this fight Goz, Tyson was completely different to the guy who fought Williams. He was slow, lethargic, he fought from the start like the guy in the 4th round vs Williams.

Can someone say Matthew Saad Muhammad? Another once great that held on too, too long and his career record suffered for it, but like Tyson now, at the end Muhammad lost to several fighters that wouldn't have had a chance even after his prime, but most of his losses were as Tyson's was last night, it wasn't a Tyson that was out of his prime, it was a completely spent fighter who will struggle against any fighter that can last a couple of rounds...and I do mean any fighter!

Stu, no haven't seen it yet, my comments were just based on the result.

I should get to have a look later on and whilst you are probably right this does surely show up Williams win for what it was. Maybe Tyson had even less left last night but still Williams win has been shown up for what it was. A win over a bloke who looked a bit like Mike Tyson.

I hope you get to watch the fight and tell me if you think the Tyson who beat Williams wouldn't have smashed McBride. He would have.

Its over though, heart has gone.

I have lost an awful lot of respect for Jeff Fenech, this fight shouldn't have happend. Surely it could be seen from Tyson "training" that he wasn't ready - he never will be, but Fenech reputation has taken some knocks of late (as a trainer) the best thing he could have done is walked away instead of the B/S it clearly was.

I was dissapointed in Roach, but at least Tyson fought with some desire even if he didn't have the engine and Roach did get him in physical shape vs Etteine. Tyson looked a little heavy in there.
