Post by Josh1111 »

Does he have a hope in hell in 2 weeks time or is it more a big pay day for him?

I reckon he'll give Bute a test as he's got nothing to lose and, I'm not completely sold on Bute and think recent opposition has flattered him somewhat.

I agree, Dirt Sugar - Bute is hyped up to be a lot better than he actually is. In saying that Magee will have a tough night ahead of him but the Irishman is always competitive and will put up a good effort. I don't see an upset unfortunately.

I can't forget what happened to Bute against Andrade the first time and although he's improved he's not been in against anyone who has been able to push him. I didn't like the way he took the piss out of a much smaller Jesse Brinkley either. Took nine rounds to get rid of a fringe contender middleweight.

Bit of the front-runner about him. Just don't think he's the monster he's made out to be.

Bute's recent oppo have all been about the same level as Magee (save an ancient William Joppy), and he's handled them without too much trouble. Well, apart from the last 60 seconds or so of the first Andrade fight!

I reckon Magee will give it a good go, but will be out of his depth and expect Bute to get rid of him in the latter rounds. Hope i'm wrong though!

One of thje most difficult fights outt there for Brian Magee...

I would much rather have seen him in the ring against the current WBA Champ, Sartison... Whom I think is a decent fighter but a fight that Brian could have had a great chance of winning.

With his choice of fight coming up, I can see this being the last hurrah for Magee on the world scene... And with the loss of his European title, I just don't know hwere he goes from there.

I think he's too seasonsed to pick up the pieces again from scratch.

But nevertheless, I wish him all the best against Bute. And I will be routing for him on the night.

Brian, if you are reading this, god bless and good luck.

Bute looks great, simply because his opponents aren't.I've seen him decked a few times (the golovkin shot was a good one).

After the 8th round the wheels fall off and its then that Magee needs his reserves to do the business.

Magee is similar to Bute is some ways, but with a worse chin.

I hope he wins cos he's a nice guy and would brilliant for Irish boxing.

Bute might be great, but how will we ever know if he only ever fights fringe guys? A cynic might say that his management know something about him we don't.

I can' see Brian's chin holding up for the full 12, but I'd love to be wrong. Even a competative loss would be enough to get him another title shot and a couple more paydays.

It's an absolute joke that Bute is rated so highly P4P on both boxrec and by other P4P ratings. He is unbeaten but has fought nobody in the top 5 of his division let alone someone top5 P4P. Froch is rated below him somehow, fair enough Froch has lost to Kessler but Froch has beaten 4 or 5 guys who would all be Bute's best opponent if he fought them.

I don't find Bute enjoyable to watch, and all the smiling and grinning puts me off. Maybe he reminds me too much of Abramovich from a distance..

I'm rooting for David Lemieux to move up and take him out when the time is right. :box:

Aside from the Andrade fight, when has Bute noticably faded afterthe 8th?

There's been a couple i've noticed he's been blowing - Tatevosyan I think was one.

We have to also consider the standard he has fought, hardly C-level and Andrade is tough and strong, he cant box and defend at world level and Bute was stumbling around and falling on the floor like a drunk. He was so dog tired he couldn't even lift his arms up to cover his face, and the shot that put him down was a glancing, slow effort - and Bute dropped like spuds. He barely got up right on the count of 10 (despite help from ref Marlon B. Wright).

He looks like a lollipop. Big head and skinny body.
