Thailand, to be precise. Well, yes, easier, but hardly impossible. Remember I have lived in Britain far longer than I have lived here and, as said, I used to routinely and successfully avoid results all the way through til midnight on a Sunday when that was when the BBC showed its international boxing.

The remote control thing is just your own foible, and the neighbour thing is just a chance in a million. It could happen to any of us, but with a bit of discipline and the proper precautions, it really isn't difficult.

It's been spoilt lots of ways, and most of the time, not through my own fault. If you're interested I can give you more 'one-in-a-million' examples. I'll tell you what, sod's law isn't a big enough word when it comes to avoiding boxing results and myself.

I managed to avoid the Holyfield/Douglas result for a whole day, which is tricky for a real HW title fight, even pre internet. On way home from work I sat on the tube, feeling pretty pleased to have made it and almost there, when the bloke opposite me opens up his late news Standard, presenting me with the big headline "BUSTED", with a picture of a fat bloke asleep on the canvas underneath.

I'm a bit funny whne it comes to spoilers. As long there is a stoppage I can watch the fight, even if happens in the later rounds. If I hear it has gone to points then forget about it, not interested

This fight shouldnt be too hard to avoid for those not staying around Justin's. Stay the fcuk off the internet, remember to change the channel on BBC/ITV News when its time for sports and dont take calls.

Additionally, if feasible don't actually watch the coverage until you hear the ring announcer introducing the fighers, and remember to put it on mute

I remember hearing that for the Froch/Taylor fight the presenter said before the fight 'this one is worth the wait', with a smile on his face. Basically giving away the result to those who had managed to avoid it all day

It's all about levels. Some people get far more angsty than others about boxing — and all joking aside, I do get very angsty. I can't watch boxing with even my closest friends. It's way too personal for that. Even if they know what they're talking about the sound of their voices irritates me. Just shut up and let me watch it properly. At ringside? Forget it, way too many irritants. Impossible, like someone's let a moron bomb off, designed to ruin my existence. I need a controlled environment — controlled by me. I can watch it with my missus because she's trained up and she knows the rules — don't talk unless I do first, basically (not so big an ask — two hours hun, you can run the show the rest of the time). All of which sounds pretty sad. Or not. (Big boy. Adios.) But that's the level I'm at. What level are you at?

thats defo a touch of OCD Glynn..i do understand though I have an eight year old who insists on asking me what colour England playin in the rugby 7 times during a game. And who do i want to win at least 5 times a half.

boxing is on too late in general for him to watch so i get peace n quiet on the odd occasion i get to see any frikkin boxing out here.

on a serious note he has some talent for the cricket playing under 11's at the age of 8 and getting man of the match awards 3 yeara bove his age, gonna be a better player than i ever was if he sticks with it ..potential there to do well. Matty Hatton isnt big news in Spain so i should imagine i will have no problems avoiding the result as Boxing here is basically Tyson or Al. Recently i stuck up a picture of Javier Castillejo amounst the boxing pictures in my bar no one seemed to know who he was and those few he did told him how he beat Oscar De La Hoya . These days of Sky+, being old, the extra hour difference and having kids i rarely stay up and watch a US fight live but having to wait until sunday evening is a weird one but obviously Sky have there reasons for showing it so late.

Nice one Edwin, thanks for keeping us posted and well done to Sky — this would have been a bad one not to show.

As a few people have posted, the time of the screening isn't exactly fan friendly — to complain overly would seem churlish, but it does cause a few very valid concerns that I'd be grateful if you could take on board and pass on to the powers that be.

As a fan yourself, you will know how important it is to watch a fight with no clue whatsoever as to what is going to happen when the first bell sounds. To this end, please have a word with Dave Darts, or whoever will present, and explain that opening comments such as 'don't blink' (translation: short fight) and 'sit back and enjoy the action' (translation: long fight) rob us of that element of suspense which is so crucial to the enjoyment of a fight. Also, any trailers for the show on Sunday that contain action from the fight would do the same — it's been noted that on Fight Nights the 'join us after the break' links often feature action from the next fight to be shown, which tells the viewer 'this one didn't end with an alarmingly quick KO then'. We really don't need to know that, it robs us of some of the anticipation and enjoyment.
The points I make could be applied to any non-live fight situation, but as those of us who will not be choosing the live internet option will spend most of Sunday actively trying to avoid the result, it would be a shame if Sky was to undermine its good work and our efforts (which will be considerable, it's horribly tense trying to avoid a result — and requires a fair degree of self sacrifice [no TV, no radio, no internet, the vetting of texts and phone calls]) by blowing it with ill-thought out 'wiseguy' comments or trailers.

MW's suggestion of a switch of slots with the Sat Night Fights repeat is a good un but I'm sure there must be difficulties involved...esp when Magic Matt ices the ginge in round one.
