'Ryan Rhodes is running away'...says El Maachi

I like the lad who does Steve Goodwin's press - very hard working indeed, bashes out loads of copy and always comes with images. He does a very good job.
But there's something about El Maachi's pronouncements that gets on my wick.

Yeah, its all about getting press coverage but its very easy to call out fighters like Rhodes and Brook knowing full well that they are never going to take you up on it. It's a difficult job for a promoter as he will be criticized for not not doing enough should his fighters not get column inches but could end up looking a bit stupid by making outlandish claims that nobody will take seriously.
What about he tries to avenge some of his defeats and prove he has improved before mentioning fighters way out of his class?

this fight would be good on the khan undercard.
Re: 'Ryan Rhodes is running away'...says El Maachi
He's an exciting fighter, with an interesting story. Don Charles is doing good stuff with him from what I can see, and I can fully understand why he's avoided. Yes, he's got all the mouth, but it seems to suit him. The fact he hasn't got a passport is gonna make it nigh-on impossible for Goodwin to take him where he needs to go. I hope he gets a passport soon. Love to see him fight Prince Arron.
Re: 'Ryan Rhodes is running away'...says El Maachi
I liked what I saw of Yassine in the ring but he makes himself appear a tool with this sort of drivel. Ryan Rhodes is one of those fighters who isn't widely known by the public so it's only boxing fans who would hear this, and they would know why Rhodes wouldn't take the fight - and of course its nothing to do with being scared of Yassine.
Ive said it before but during the facebook sparring between Yassine and Anthony Small, there was a lot of talk about footage of Yassine knocking Small down. Small denied it, Yassine said he would let Small talk a bit more before making him look silly by putting it on you tube. I'm not saying it didnt happen, but I never saw the footage and a very quick search now hasn't yielded any results... these days I tend not to pay too much attention to anything El Maachi or Small say.

I'm sure Jon Pegg will confirm this but Max Maxwell would take this fight in an instant. They were set to fight last year.

I did not have anything to do with this Yassine statement or have anything to do with his comments so it is not appropriate for me to comment.
I can confirm that Max Maxwell did turn down a fight to box Yassine in March. He is waiting in the wings for a title shot.

Re: 'Ryan Rhodes is running away'...says El Maachi
Yeh max is hoping to get that long awaited title fight hes nearly as avoided as Yassine
So we are loooking at a bigger payday and title with a bit of luck
I suppose if the powers that who gave brian rose a title shot in front of max keep him waiting he may have to take this fight.
To be fair if El machi wants a rematch with my french lad who he beat in a good fight that ones always there.

No news yet. Looking at a foreign opponent. Am awaiting for an agent to come back to me. We are hoping to get Yassine in Prize Fighter in May if they do one at Welter or Light Middle. To be honest he really needs to get a British passport because to be honest for many British boxers they have nothing to gain by boxing him.
Every manager must do the best by their boxers and thats fair enough.

El Maachi doesnt get enought exposure imo - we all talk about him on here but he's hardly ever on sky so he must have something.
From what i've seen of him he looks to have the potential to become top domestic level.
Rhodes is probably borderline world level but what has brook done? Id like to see that fight Brook v El Maachi

El Macchi is surely just trying to get attention, that he deserves IMO. Rhodes is a class above him atm, he deserves a good fight though on a big undercard or SFN

Who El Maachi?? whys that Alex,For beating Colas? Your a good poster...But no way does he deserve a decent undercard fight....Im no matchmaker, but i bet plenty would take the fight at far low level than british level&beat him with ease...have you been grabbed into the hype??alexpaterson wrote:El Macchi is surely just trying to get attention, that he deserves IMO. Re: 'Ryan Rhodes is running away'...says El Maachi
This is no more delusional than a plethora of domestic level Brit fighters calling put the major names in their division. 'If I catch them right I can knock anyone out' blah blah blah.

Beating Colas was a good result but I feel he should deserve to show his level on a reasonably big scale, he seemed to be going somewhere on ITV but when they stopped he sort of dropped into obscurity again and I thought he should of been given a bigger fight, maybe someone like Purdy

Yassine fought Spitko on ITV, it is difficult for El Maachi to get anywhere because of the passport problem. Without a UK Passport he won't ever fight for a title of any significance.

As much as he sounds a tool with some of the statements its doing what its intended to imo , as im sure im not the only one on here that will watch him if hes on tv or will check for his result on here , the more people know of him , the more fighters will be willing to fight him to boost their own reputation , its my view that without the passport issue he wouldnt need to do this sort of thing but as things stand hes doing what needs to be done .

Re: 'Ryan Rhodes is running away'...says El Maachi
Ryan Rhodes is running away from El Maachi? Erm I am sorry but I just do not buy that that all. Rhodes is a two time holder of the Lonsdale Belt OUTRIGHT and the youngest ever to win it aged 20 and the fastest to win it as well in 93 days if my memory serves me right and a former European Champion at Light Middle and ranked number 4 by the WBC and the IBF, 8 by the WBA going to going to gain by fighting, nothing at all Rhodes has too much too lose by taking the fight if he has been offered it at all and besides he has bigger ambitions which will have bigger rewards than fighting El Maachi.
