Last time I had heard Sciaca was training John Ruiz a few years ago.
Yes! Manny is a person of interest to me. He's in the book, but I know so little about him. Do you know how to contact him?

I will also check out Pedro Lovell. Possibly he was at Bonavena's funeral?

Thanks again.

Were you able to locate Bonavena's wife that he had met at the Mustang and married just a few Months before he was killed?
She would be about 54 years old now.

Maybe you should try and locate boxer Jody Ballard too.
Don King had sent him and Larry Holmes to train at the Mustang in early 1977,when Mercado was still there.
That of course was almost a year after Bonavena was killed.
But maybe Jody Ballard was told or over heard some thing when he was there?

Eddie"Bossman"Jones had also been a sparring partner for Bernardo Mercado around 1977.

Also I just now found out that Eddie"Bossman"Jones was in one of the preliminary fights
of the Bonavena vs Billy Joiner fight card at Reno February.26.1976.
(Eddie Jones vs Bruce Scott.)
along with Bernardo Mercado who scored a one round knockout over Mark White evening.

Speaking of Billy Joiner,
from what I understand he still lives in Cincinnati and still goes out to the gym there to work out.
He may have an interesting story to tell, did you contact him?

Maybe you can contact him there.

Regarding Eddie"Bossman"Jones
I just now read that he was in one of the preliminary fights
on the Oscar Bonavena vs Billy Joiner fight card February.26.1976 at Reno NV.
Also on the card that the same evening was Bernardo Mercado who had scored a one round knockout over Mark White.

Speaking of Billy Joiner,
I read a newspaper article from a couple years ago, that Billy Joiner still lives in Cincinnati Ohio,
and was involved in the training of amateur boxers at the Cincinnati Athletic Club.
Im sure he has some interesting stories about those days, and his own boxing career of course.

here is the link

Hey osc1360,
Did you know that a biography of Oscar Bonavena was published November 1992 in Argentina?
Its entitled,

DIGANME RINGO

by Ezequiel Fernandez Moores.

Its 268 pages in length with photographs and written in Spanish of course.
I believe it was reprinted last August around the time the movie Love Ranch was released.
I think I v'e seen a few copies for sell somewhere on the inter-net.
