Both the board and Sky now need to force a return with Buckland.

He's proven a point by beating a good opponent in Johanneson in his first fight after the KO loss - now it's time for the match to be made.

I'd hate it if Buckland was left on the shelf as a victim of his own success.

Gary Sykes said afterward he wanted to clear things up, it was Maloney who said that Buckland had not done anything at the super featherweight limit to warrant such a shot.

A rematch would be great, both are top fighters.

Carl can still come again, he showed he can still mix at a high level.

A Buckland rematch would be pretty good, hopefully the outcome would be different over 12 rounds. He's got a good coach in McGowan, smart guy and he's got alot of passion.

Couldn't Sky have shown any of the other undercard fights?

I wanted to see Nurse vs Owen.

I scored the fight 114-113 for Sykes. His performance in the last 3 rounds clinched it for him.

Nurse V Owen was a very close fight. Tyrones lack of dig will hamper him severely now he is moving up.

Really brave performance by Sykes, his work rate and heart is really brilliant! The one thing however is he is so prone to defensive lapses, when he throws his other hand tends to come down leaving himself vulnerable. I believe a counter puncher would destroy Sykes who's poor defence will hinder him if he's to go into the next level imo

Thats what makes him exciting Alex, but his lack of punch is also a major issue. Against tough fighters he just cant get their respect. They know to an extent they can just trundle forward without getting hurting.

In that case Sykes should consider sacking him.

I watched Sykes turn pro on Carl's undercard five years ago and was ringside again last night to watch them fight for the British title.I was really impressed with Johannesson,at his age and with rumours about his commitment in the past('Mr McNeily even suggested he was shot at the time of the Burns fight!),i thought he did great making the weight and then keeping strong for the full twelve rounds. He was really thumping home those right hands to the body and Sykes will be very sore today.I dont know what he has changed in his training but wonder if he had done this a few years ago what he could have achieved. Also,a quick word for my friend Graham Fearn who boxed very late after nearly everyone had gone home.He drew, just a week after drawing on the Leeds show. Two draws in a week,is this a record?

Mickey the Jason Thompson V Graham Fearn fight was a right little war & easily the best of the 4 rounders. It was real phone booth material for most of the fight.

I know,i was right next to the ring!Graham boxed last week in another war at Leeds and had had a few days off when he got the call for this.Credit to Thompson, though,he dug in after a ropey first round.
