Judah v Mabuza .spoiler

Post by Old bones Ian »

Well apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks. Zab Judah looked good last night beating Mabuza by 7th round KO.

Pernell Whitaker has said that he just tweaked Judah's style, but you can see that he's taught the New Yorker some new defensive moves , including the odd knee dip and side to side sway that Sweet Pea had in his prime. Judah even kept his cool when a knockdown was called against him (looked more of a trip), the old Judah would of tried to blast Mabuza out after that and left himself tired or KO'd. But he just kept letting the South African miss and tire himself out a bit, before he landed a great counter right off the ropes to completly take the fight out of Mabuza.

Zab Judah makes a great inclusion in the light welter division, and he would make a differcult opponent for either Bradley or Khan.

I had him losing 5-1 at the time of the stoppage, 'the commentators were unbelievably bias toasted Judah. I thought Mabuza was just outworking him, judah's defence looked good when Mabuza threw wide hooks but when he threw a basic one-two or a double jab he caught Zab. Mabuza did look awkward and clumsy but he was fairly affective working off his jab. Great finish by Zab though

I had it 4-2 to Judah in rounds, i thought he was landing the better shots , and Mabuza was missing alot.
Do you think that Pernell has improved Judah? i thought he has brought a bit more control to Judah, making him think more about his boxing.
Judah will be looking for a money fight next, maybe Bradley will look at him as a marketable fight. I don't think that Khan's people will be rushing for a fight, Judah has a style that could make Khan look bad

Whats's Judah size compared to the other Light Welter champs. He looked tiny next to Mabuzza - I thought Mabuzza's size and speed was giving him some problems, although (and I've never thought this in any Judah fight before) he was always going to get him down the stretch as Mabuzza tired.... very useful addition, can see him giving Bradley problems - but if Khan is significantly bigger. I think Khan beats him.

Still got the Power though, thats much is for certain - one of the punches of the year. Mabuzza has one of those chins in which he just doesn't go down by the looks of it!

Sweet Pea has definetly brought little tricks to Judah but I'm
not sure he's overly improved him because Judah had his best success going forward throwing in combinations and then slipping and getting out, if he mixed the two styles he would have the perfect style for himself IMO. I think he occasionally got caught silly by trying some Pea moves, mostly caught with straight shots but if he can mix the two then he will have more success imo
