mixture of mayorga/shot honeyghan .hatton- alvarez spoiler

Wow. Absolutely breathtalking performance by hatton. His pluck, will to win conditioning and yes his boxing skill the way he old manned alvarez was very very admirable.

I tell you if hatton had a punch and was a natural light middleweigt alvarez would have been shown up as the overrated hype he is.

Alvarez had 10 years and at least 10 pounds of solid muscle on hatton. He looks like a glorified mexican clubfighter to me and another golden boy "next golden boy hype".

He's the kind of one dimensional strongman who used to come out of obscurity from argentina in the 80s with a padded record. Think juan roldan, this guy may be 20 and he is strong as hell but cmon if you think what the 154 tommy hearns would have done to this guy.

Getting back to hatton, what a great performance. Next time he takes on someone his own size and perhaps learns to get more power on his shots, he is heading to a world title.

I loved his mix of canny boxing and mayorga like intensity. The reference to honeyghan and i mean this in a respectful way to both lloyd and matthew but it reminded me of the pazienza- lloyd fight in 93 when lloyd was totally outweighed and outstrengthed a welterweight v a middleweight but it was clear lloyd even tho he was shot had more skill. Unlike lloyd at that stage of his career, hatton was in this fight for almost every second and had incredible will to win and ability to shake off alvarezs shots with a canny mix of relexes, grit and defence.......id love to know how much alvarez outweighed hatton by on fight night........the difference in leg and neck and back thickness was something

According to Bob Shannon upon entering the ring Alvarez was 165lbs and Hatton was 157lbs.

Completely agree Mugabi, considering Saul 'Archie' Alvarez has had 30-odd fights he didn't seem to know how to deal with Hatton's ring nouce which he's used to the tee.

Matt boxed sharply did his thing and guarded his chin easily enough really. You couldn't ask anymore of him but Golden Boy must be spitting feathers.

jim watt called it perfectly ....he really did....... He mentioned the difference between alvarez's "strength" as opposed to power being hattons main problem. He called it perfectly and was a pleasure to listen to, rather than the at times droning bob mee and the always lazy ian darke who seemed to impy hatton was looking to go the distance or survive..........far from it. I really think a new hatton is a star in the us on the back of that. Lol a shame this isnt 2001 again hatton v mayorga at 147 would be a tear up!

I think what we saw is Hatton do quite well against a bigger man, but his lack of power hurt him a lot. We also saw that Alvarez is gonna be beaten sooner rather than later unless he gets babied by Golden Boy.
