I remember growing up as a kid born in 1978 I was about 8 years old when Tyson first became champ. Tyson was like a God to us as kids. We all had the Mike Tyson's Punch Out NES video game, and Mike Tyson was like a superhuman warrior. Mike Tyson is the sole reason I have been a huge fight fan my whole life. The sport of boxing without Tyson is allot like the sport of basketball with out Michael Jordan.

Watching the fight tonight, I thought allot about Michael Jordan, and how disappointed I was when Jordan made his come back a few years ago with the Washington Wizards. Jordan was still good, but only a shell of the former star he once was. It was strange watching the same guys body, that couldnt do the things that it used to. I saw that tonight in a Mike Tyson that is far from the old Tyson that moved so quickly in and out. It happens to all the best, including Holyfield who's another of my all time favorites.

I'll miss Tyson, but this fight is a good time to go.

Wow! It's hard to imagine a slow fighter like McBride would have a chance, but I guess he somehow pulled it off. I can't wait to see the rerun on regular Showtime.

Mike was only as good as the 80's let him be....In his prime he lost to a bum by the name of Buster Douglas,anyone even remeber????Later mike,dont let the door kick you in the ass on the way out....Hes a peice of shit....All the shit he has pulled over the years and everyone is now wanting to feel sorry for him????He was never a man to be a roll model of any kind....Nothing but trash....End of story....

This is good for all the fools that have been living an illusion through Mike Tyson, he has not been the same since he left the likes of Kevin Rooney and such to hook up with Don King and his merry band of thieves.
He was slowly loosing his abilities then, and being in prison for 3 odd years after the Razor Ruddick fights sure did'nt help any. His "comeback" was a complete set up with wanabies and paid off guys who fell down at the sound of a punch(Bruce Seldon), and guys who were to scared (Frank Bruno comes to mind) to be able to fight. He was believing it himself until "The Real Deal" Evander Holyfield exposed him and beat the shit out of him, and I was never so happy as I was on that night, seeing a class act like Holyfield dominate Tyson the way he did.
This guy is gona end up in prison again, and it may be where he belongs for awhile.
Don't anyone give me the story of how he was brought up the hard way, he was adopted at the age of 12 by Cus Damato and lived in paradise after that, never without anything again.
Glad that he got beaten down by a white guy as well, makes it that much more humiliating for him, not to anyone else. I don't wana come off prejudice, just that he was such a Bad "Homie" or so he thought, and he looses in this fashion is justice I feel.

He'll be back!

Give it a couple of months & then the excuses for this latest setback will start. He'll get yet another trainer, who will tell us, he's moving his head again, throwing combos, living well & back to his best!

We have not seen the last of Iron Mike!

It makes him look foolish!... but i feel sorry for him!

On one hand, I think we gonna se Tyson in the ring again - but he can´t go 12 rounds...
On the other hand, we might se him in K1 - they only go 3 rounds, and i think he could be a champ in K1.

Imagine all bouts only went 3 rounds.... I then think Mike could stand a chance!

Lumpy, you are definitely entitled to your opinion...and much of it I agree with, but I think you have just become a Tyson hater. To say he didnt' have a bad upbringing is ridiculous...not only did he grow up in poverty from the time he was born until moving in with Cus, but he was abandoned by both parents, lost everyone around him that he truly loved, had a horrible marriage his first time around, was robbed of tons of money from people he "trusted," and obviously has mental issues because of most of this.

I'm not making excuses for him. He's done...no doubt about that. But he has definitely had the kind of life that most of us would never be able to deal with. He has faced more in 38 years of life than many people even hear about in their entire lives. He'll end up in prison? He's a bad "homie?" I dont know why all the hositility...you must have paid for the PPV last night.

Tyson's career is DONE. We can all admit that now, even if some of us trying to hold on to our youths couldn't before. I'll even say Tyson is bad for boxing now. But I dont' see any reason to attack the guy on a personal level...life has already done that and will continue to do that to Tyson.

Holmes can say whatever he wants because he is one of the greatest of all time, but he is still an idiot who disrespects every fighter he has fought. He talked all that shit about George Foreman too.

If Tyson had come along in the 70's he would have made and impact. He might not have beaten Ali or Foreman, but he would have walked through all the others, Holmes included. A young Mike Tyson could stand tall in any era of boxing so stop disrespecting the impact he made on the sport.
