ABA of England CEO Steps Down

Post by dbf »

Paul King ABAE CEO has withdrawn his application for his current role. His secondment arrangement from Liverpool Council came to an end hence his job was re-advertised although he was an overwhelming favourite to regain his £100k per year job. However, due to a disciplinary against him from AIBA, he has has decided to step down. King had challenged AIBA president CK Wu's position in 2010.

The ABAE have been lauded in recent times for increasing participation of boxing in England, mainly in a recreational format (i.e activity not based in clubs) whilst King has been at the helm. The ABAE, who received government funding (part exchequer and part lottery) via Sport England, to the tune of £4m for the funding cycle from 2009-2013 are currently recruiting for a new CEO.

Because he challenged him for his spot in the election? Whats wrong with that? There must be somthing else going on there, unless Wu is some kind of gangster.

Same type of things would happen to people if they challenged Chowdhry when he was President of AIBA. Welcome to the world of boxing. Funny thing is King backed Chowdhry when Wu ran against him. Maybe Wu didn't forget. He is using the same tactic that Chowdhry used, which was find a way to get rid of people who challenge you.

(The reason for action against the ABAE is PK's attempts to disrupt Congress, nowt to do with his challenge for the Presidency)

Best read some of the other news stories involving Mr King and the ABAE before reaching a conclusion on the reasons for his demise.

Then read this and consider that King was removed from his position on the European council for failing to provide financially sound information...

Finally read this which demonstrates the direct link with Choudury via Greenhill and the underhandedness of bought allegiance to try and topple Wu. Wouldn't you be miffed?
