So long, Mikey. Good riddance. Now maybe the average sports fan will return to boxing, like before he came along when Leonard was fighting Duran and Hagler was fighting Hearns, etc and people were actually interested in boxing for the sake of boxing. Here is his newest nickname, and it has a certain ring to it: "FuckOff" Mike Tyson...or what about Mike "The Turd" Tyson.
He'd already done his damamge to the sport long before getting TKO'd and quitting again, like the dog he is, against Kevin McBride. He went out like the same sorry punk he's always been and always will be. He deserves NO sympathy. He's unrepentat. He's raped before, he'll rape again. So long, back to prison for you, "Turd" Tyson, where you belong.

look the guys he beat in the 80's. at the time, they were considered to be good fighters. even holmes on the slide was still a top caliber guy.billythekid wrote:Name his five best wins slayton. And do it now before I laugh and spit my food all over my computer. It is not my fault you and others fell victime to media hype.
spinks, holmes, tony tucker, thomas, smith, berbick, tubbs, razor ruddick 2 x's, frank bruno, tyrell biggs (who at the time was a top guy before the crack got him) carl williams and alex stewart. all of those guys were good fighters and the best he had available during his peak years. it isn't just that he beat them either. he destroyed them with a fury that hadn't been seen in a long time. he walked thru all of them except tucker, smith, and ruddick who all got beat badly, but didn't get knocked out (well, ruddick did the first time although the ref shouldn't have stopped it). in fact, the larry holmes tyson beat would be world champ today. he was still beating good fighters at 100 years old.
it's not hype. i didn't say tyson was still great. i said he used to be great and deserves respect for what he did in the ring not out of it. leave what he did in the ring, in the ring, and don't judge him as a fighter based on the shit that is he did out of it.
you are just a hater.

Re: Woah!
IMO McBride was losing the fight on all cards bro. He kept leaning on Tyson, and putting his weight on a Mike Tyson that is commonly know to be exhausted after a few short rounds. Tyson was winning the fight, McBride's speed had nothing to do with anything. Mike tired out, and basically gave up...? I couldnt believe it, actually I could believe it cause Tyson looked mentally fucked up after he couldnt put McBride away after round 4.HeavyHitters wrote:Wow! It's hard to imagine a slow fighter like McBride would have a chance, but I guess he somehow pulled it off. I can't wait to see the rerun on regular Showtime.

Actually, it is hype, zslayton. Michael Spinks pussed out against Tyson just like Patterson did against Liston (and Spinks was no Floyd Patterson).
Tyson would lose to any all-time, prime top 15 heavyweweight. A way past it, slower, flat-footed Holyfield, who was clearly shop worn (you stupid Turd Tyson fanatics) slapped the shit out of that sorry, phony bitch. Lewis easily raked him over the coals (but, what, Turd Tyson was drugged).
Douglas destroyed the hype way back when Turd Tyson was good and young. But his stupid Turd Tyson fanatics perpetuated the hype (and still do). I hope Turd fights again before they lock his monkey ass away for twenty years.

Quit talking shit
bullshit. i don't like tyson as a person for what he did outside the ring, but i respect what he did in the ring and what he meant to boxing. everyone talks about how weak the 80's were, then they say holmes is an all-time great. the fighters of the early 80's are on the same level as the ones of the mid-late 80's, and probably better than the heavy's of today. with the exception of lennox lewis and evander holyfield (who are considered all time greats for beating the same level of fighter that tyson beat) the whole lot of them stinks.
as far as the spinks fight goes, spinks loaded up and tried to trade with tyson. stupid. stupid. stupid. you can call it a puss out like patterson, but he just got ktfo is all it is, and at that time, spinks was considered the best in the division. he was supposed to box tysons ears off. after all he beat a larry holmes that had dominated the division for several years, oh, but you guys would probably say holmes was washed up.
when tyson lost his fire and fury he became shot. when that was, i don't know, but i think he still had it after he got beat by douglas, for a few more years anyway, but the post prison tyson was not near the same as the pre prison tyson.

ok, I like Tyson but I´m not a "blind" fan.
Mike is washed up at least since 1995.
But I read some posts about the 70´s and what Holmes said.
Watching the fight between Ali and Foreman that took place in Zaire.... I don´t what would have happened because Ali was a real master... but both fighters didn´t have half the speed of prime Tyson (which was imo his most powerful weapon).
Too difficult to predict, but I would give Tyson a chance.
Regarding what happened last night, it was very funny how Tyson left his body fall down to the canvas and wait for the count.

Tyson's record against the three other distinguished heavy's of his era. (Holyfield, Lewis, Bowe) 0-3 with all three fights being stopped. Two by KO one by DQ (Quitting again). He never fought Bowe. When Tyson was knocked down in any fight, he never got off the canvas to win. Not once. This is just a few in a laundry list of stats which just don't go Mike's way. I could go on and on. I wrote he was a fraud right before the fight. Check out my post earlier.

Iviaric_uk, I already know that you're one of the biggest Turd Tyson fanatics on this board. That makes you yourself a turd to me...a Welsh turd, glorifying an illiterate American turd ball. Tyson was always overhyped and overrated, and I said so well before Douglas smacked that bitch up at a young age. So I'll go ahead now and talk any way I want to about that no good, vastly overrated pile of schitt. He's the one old-timer in boxing that deserves a swift kick in the ass on his way out of the door. Get the fornicate out already...
Goodbye, so long, fornicate off, and enjoy your inevitable prison stay, Turd. Now, maybe boxing can return to it's former popularity.

To take the name of Professor X I would think you were a smart man. You are a dumb, blind, Tyson hating, pudendum. There are only a handful of heavyweights that can rival the popularity or claim to have brought as much attention to the sport as Mike Tyson.Professor X wrote:Iviaric_uk, I already know that you're one of the biggest Turd Tyson fanatics on this board. jmanginell I was trying to come across as someone with a point of view, not a hate monger. This fellow here that I am quoting, well he may be, but I was attempting to give my opinion on this jackass (Tyson).Professor X wrote:So long, Mikey. Good riddance. All the shit he has had come his way since the age of 12 has been all his own doing. Marrying that skank who was just in it for the money and notoriety of being married to him. Hooking up with Don King the worst fornicating parasite to enter the boxing community, and throwing the people who helped bring him to the top away. He did all this to himself, raping that lady, sexual assault, whatever he did it, he paid for it partially anyways(and it was not the first time either). He is an "A" class idiot, one dumb fornicate, and now he will be left alone by all the scum that he surrounded himself with. He deserves what will come his way, and what has, "karma" and he will continue to have it bad for some time to come.
Just one mans opinion.
cheers M.O.
Larry Holmes is bitter about his loss to Tyson. Tyson would have been a formidable opponent when he was at his peak with alot of these guys, the best, I don't think so, but a contender yes. Don't forget the 70's, the era that Ali proved to be the best in, was the best the division has ever seen. Holmes never fought Foreman, would'nt give Norton a rematch, never fought Ron Lyle, Jimmy Young, and to say that Gerry Cooney would beat Tyson is just stupidity.billythekid wrote:Q:If Mike Tyson had come up in the seventies, what do you think Tyson's legacy would have been in the sport?
Larry Holmes answer: "If Mike Tyson would have come up in the seventies you never would have heard of Mike Tyson. He would have never beaten Ali, Foreman, Frazier or for that matter Cooney. And he never would have beaten me in my prime. I can assure you of that."
That is a quote from Holmes one of the best ever Heavy's in the game.

Tyson was a bully.
Perhaps the most memorble bully in history. Not just boxing.
But like all bullies, a lot of their effectiveness is through
intimidation. When he was young and quick he could scare
most guys and with a really hard power punch could get them
out of there until Buster exposed the bravado. After that,
anyone with balls could beat Tyson, Holyfield and Lewis
laid him bare.
Because like all bullies Tyson does not and never had no heart.
The Tin Man, hell Dorothy had more heart than Tyson ever had.
When the chips are down, Mike folds.
And fold he did, like a cheap lawnchair on the Ledo deck.
Bye Mike.

You need heart & stamina to go with your skills & Tyson has always lacked both.

Watching the fight tonight, I thought allot about Michael Jordan, and how disappointed I was when Jordan made his come back a few years ago with the Washington Wizards. Jordan was still good, but only a shell of the former star he once was. It was strange watching the same guys body, that couldnt do the things that it used to. I saw that tonight in a Mike Tyson that is far from the old Tyson that moved so quickly in and out. It happens to all the best, including Holyfield who's another of my all time favorites.
I'll miss Tyson, but this fight is a good time to go.
