You've gotta love Danny Williams, and that's why nobody should want to see him fighting again. I watched Chisora kick his head in at Upton Park and thought: time to pack it in, big fella. Even he says he's shot to bits. Short of cash?

Every punch he takes, and he'll take a lot even against lower level opposition, is totally unecessary for somebody who proved his quality many moons ago....

Boredom or money?

You would think boredom or missing the limelight, would hope to think its not money, his reign as british and commonwealth champ he wud have been well paid, and you have the tyson and klitchsko fight, hope hes not broke.

I don't think its a comeback as such, probably being fed to someone. I hope it doesn't happen. A nice bloke, a sports channel should find something for him to do.

Please no.. He has been a great servant for British Boxing serving up many thrilling nights of boxing don't taint it please. I agree that he should go into the media or become a trainer.

Danny literally can't fight anymore anywhere near title level. He can probably do ok at 4/6 round level and even then the opposition would have to be pretty passive, but I cannot see any point to that. He used to have a rock-solid chin, now he's so fragile.

I hope this doesn't happen.

The Chisora fight surely proved to him he can't do it anymore. Danny would have comfortably beat Del boy years ago but he got battered.

Hope it's not true.

Don't they pay well in Germany for Heavyweight 'opponents'?

I reckon he'd get licensed just think he'd get knocked out by anybody in or even near the top 10, thinking about it he's probably going over there for a couple of easy fights (hasn't he done it before.) and I don't think he's going to be the opponent because otherwise he'd be the T.B.A.
I just wonder what he thinks he'll achieve now can anything top stopping Iron Mike? Ever?

I am very surprised this happened. Does anyone know if this was a one-off payday or whether it's part of a concerted comeback? I would suspect and hope the former. Williams' deterioration prior to his retirement was pretty rapid.

I suspect it is not the part of a concerted comeback, but I don't think this is a one off (already scheduled to box again in Germany). When you see Danny's conditioning you do have to wonder when was the last time he was serious about his career.

When was the last time a defending British champion was fighting a raw novice, not being scheduled over 8 rounds before and was such a big underdog. Danny was pityful that night, clearly just took it for the pay day.

Danny's did alot of things but to be honest - I lost alot of respect for him ahead and after the Chisora fight. He should just admit he has money problems. Don't think I've ever seen a fighter admit to being shot before boxing. Sugar Ray Leonard - even after the Camacho fight (when he was expected to continue) stated that it was weight problems and he still felt he could beat RJJ..... Delusional - yes.... but give me a delusional fighter over someone who tells his fans "hey I'm shot" - 3 days before the fight - people had just bought tickets for it.

Some might call it honesty, I think its being a bit disrespectful to the sport, the opponents and the fans.

The result has been verified on boxrec, looks like Danny is making a low key comeback.
