Danny Lopez thoughts
Danny Lopez thoughts
Champion for 4 years, very flawed but maybe the hardest hitting featherweight in history. Why isnt he a hall of famer? Were his defenses mediocre?...your thoughts

He was inducted last year. As to why it took so long, I guess they had "bigger" names and more deserving fighters ahead of him.

He was an exciting fighter and a great guy. He gets about the amount of attention that he deserves. He is not underrated or overrrated.
Re: Danny Lopez thoughts
Lots of Heart, lots of power, poor defense. Great combination of things that made him really fun to watch. Very Good fighter

Grew up watching him. The Ayala fight was a spectacle.

Reminded me of a miniaturised Felix Trinidad in some of his outings. All heart, balls & firepower, with some obvious defensive limitations.

Always exciting. Couldn't fight a boring fight if he wanted to.
Re: Danny Lopez thoughts
Has anyone seen his title winning effort against Kotey? I've never seen it on any fight lists and was lead to believe it didn't exist as they (the authorities in Ghana) cut the TV feed and had a total media blackout...his family only finding out once he landed back home, but see it exists on youtube so presumably it was filmed.

I saw the second fight. It was on American prime time. The most brutal body attack I have ever seen. I was getting nauseated just watching it.

Great puncher...I think he is the second best puncher in featherweight history after the great Sandy Saddler. Very fun to watch. Used to get knockdown sometimes to comeback and score some brutal knockouts.

I like his fight with Juan Domingo Malvarez. Another fight of his that I like is when he fought the great Salvador Sanchez the first time around.
