Audley calls out Del or Tyson

COME ON AUDLEY!!!
Whether you love or hate Audley you've got to admire his perseverance. Looking forward to seeing him in back in action against some of our domestic up-and-comers

It definately wasn`t pro boxing, although they didn`t wear head gear. More like an organized brawl in a ring.yid14 wrote:I mean't boxing - I don't like the thai kick-boxing stuff too much ceramony and not enough action - I'm also going to indonesia so might have some luck there. I have been to a Thai boxing show in Thailand (Hua Hin). We were as close as you could get to the ring and it was a brutal spectacle. I remember thinking how is it possible for these little guys to take so much abuse.
Great night, beers served whilst you sit there. There were 5 fights in all and I think we paid about £7 for the ticket.
We went to Vietnam from Thailand and I went to boxing show in Danang. It was a messy affair though, real amateur stuff with badly outmatched opponents. Still, the Vietnamese are a class act. Apart from the Thais perhaps, the Vietnamese were the nicest people I have ever met. They have been through some real shit in their time, but they just adapt and get on with life. Always a smile, always willing to help.
I saw a show on BBC the other day about a social housing facility in the UK and some of the people who lived there, I remember thinking "what a waste of good space" Put`s it into perspective to me.
When we went into Danang city, we didn`t see one other Westerner. It was wierd. In a shopping centre we were circled by locals and they lined up in a queue to touch my 5 year old daughters hair! She is blond and blue eyed and it was like she was an alien to them. They would come up, touch her hair and run off again.
Re: Audley calls out Del or Tyson
He most undoubtedly is flawed - but you stated Audley will win a shut out decision. When has Audley ever won a shut out decision of someone as good as John McDermott for example. Of course some notable exceptions - 6 day notice Danny Williams, Last minute KO of Sprott when a mile behind yeah. But really Audley would start the underdog against McDermott and like him or not, Fury beat McDermott fair and square last time.earsjohn wrote:He fought with one arm. You deny that then you didn't see the fight. He was tuned-in because rather than give up, he stayed in and found a winning punch. He was around 6 points down, how was that tuned in?
Its actually the Sprott rematch performance, the bits inbetween KO's in Prizefighter and the Rogan fight is why I don't give Harrison a chance against Fury. All of these guys much smaller than Fury also.
I don't want to get into a debate where I have to defend Audley - that's not what I meant, but so many people seem quick to assume that Fury wins easily - I find that quite astonishing. Maybe Furys BS hype machine is working far better than Harrisons at the moment, but in the ring he remains crude, ungainly and technically flawed.
Audley did fight with one arm, but Audley still hasn't disclosed what exactly was wrong with his shoulder that night - It was okay to move to keep his defences up. Was it medically torn, or did it just hurt a little bit. You'd get fighters like Tapia and Holyfield fighting with torn rotator cuffs and you wouldn't even notice they've got the problem - I'm sure Audley would have declared the name of the condition in an attempt to win over some fans.

Not really anymore. Constantly proclaiming he will be a world champion, when he has no chance of doing so, and failing to give the required effort in the ring doesn't make me admire him, more pity the fools that buy into his hype (including him).Chambers2 wrote:

If he had a realistic goal like becoming British champion and he left it all in the ring when he fought, then I would support the guy.
Realistically, he has lived off of his Olympic gold medal for his entire pro career which has been a major letdown.

Larry was beaten convincingly last time out, I hold my hands up, but he'll be back, and I hope he one day gets a shot at Fury. I'd still fancy him to outwork him and do damage....come on Warmachine!
PS I'd rather be in the corner of Larry O than a coward like Harrison, win, lose or draw

But at least they land more than one punch in a fight, even the unambitious and lethargic Witteroliverfennell wrote:Yes, I think this is more of an "appeasing the masses" display than anything. Or what if Eastman and Witter decided they wanted to come back to the UK for British title shots? How can they consider him to be unworthy of fighting for the British title? They allow many inferior fighters to challenge for the title.

Biggest p4p puncher in the world? David Haye?
And there are no words harsh enough for Harrison, he makes my blood boil.
Yes he's not a rapist or murderer, we've been down that road, but he is a joke and he only has himself to blame.

I actually said...
"If (massive if) Audley comes in on form, he boxes Fury silly and takes a shut out points win." I'm saying if the planets align, Audley might, just might, have a comfortable points victory. It's a once in a blue moon event, but if it happens, Fury would look pretty hopeless. Would it happen? Different question. Very, very unlikely, but that's not my point.
And I'm not for once saying that Audley is a Tapia-esque warrior, but if you watch the Sprott fight he couldn't use his arm to punch so to dismiss his performance in that fight as not trying is a little unfair, when the point I was making about his performance in that fight was that he tried to win it (demonstrated by him winning it) and that he hadn't lost in the Ringwalk (as in the Haye fight).
I've never said Fury didn't beat McDermott, so don't imply that I did. I even actually said that it was his best win.
As I said at the outset, I'm not interested in getting into a debate on Audleys side, but I just wanted to point out some flaws in the logic that everyone has Fury winning comfortably - I just see alternative endings to the fight. This is the same Tyson Fury who has been roundly vilified on this board for the last couple of years for talking way above his game and having never shown it in the ring.
I'd agree that McDermott would start the favourite against Audley, but that's not how boxing works. Styles make fights and Mcdermott, like Chisora, is very wrong for Audley. Fury is less wrong.

Sure, when he started out he could do it, maybe even after he came back and avenged the Williams defeat he could do it.... but after losing to Sprott and Rogan, he still told everyone he was going to be world champion. Sure he got a shot (again because of his name) but he had no chance ever of doing it.Chambers2 wrote:A boxer claiming he 's going to be World Champion........ whatever nextdoctorboxing wrote:Not really anymore. Btw, has there been an interview with Chisora in the last few days?
Re: Audley calls out Del or Tyson
Earsjohn - I appologise - will agree to disagree on this. I just haven't seen when Audley has EVER highlighted the form to beat Tyson via a shut out. I think your doing Tyson a massive disservice by suggesting that his defeat loss to Rogan is the type of form to beat Fury.
So would appreciate if you can remind me of the examples of the form that means a shut out win for Harrison.... Williams rematch I'm assuming - what about the Sprott rematch and the Rogan loss - is this also the form..... I'm really struggling to find the evidence of when Audley has ever been in form. We are talking about losing to a 38 year old novice who 2 fights down the line gets stopped against Sexton. I cannot see how that convincingly beats anyone to be honest. Its not as if Skelton has been in great form also, I think Skelton's massive decline has affected Rogan's stock somewhat.
I'll agree to disagree that stylistically Fury is made for a "form" Harrison. I think the fact Audley will have to look up to Fury, the fact that Audley will be outreached by fury is a massive impact. You mention McDermott and Chisora being stylistic problems for Audley - again I cannot see that, when a common aspect of these apparent "form" performances was when he was facing shorter heavyweights.
I never implied any such thing that you thought McDermott beat Fury - just point out its not all Bums etc that Fury beat. He's beaten a half decent Domestic heavyweight and beat him well. Sure, Audley has done that also - not disputing that..... but Fury cannot be that awful - otherwise McDermott would have beaten him.
I'll also polietely disagree (although I can see your logic) in assuming Audley lost it in the dressing room or in the ring walk vs Haye. Audley was just being Audley.... fought the same way against Coleman Barratt and in prize fighter throughout - but for the KD's Danny Hughes would have beaten him on points. Wait, waiting, waiting looking for the one shot - thing was David was too clever and quick to make the mistakes. Audley is just scared of taking punches per se, it wasn't the occasion or the opponent - that was the views of Watt et al. When have we EVER seen Audley fight aggressively not just relying on mistakes. Against Fury, he cannot afford to wait cause he has a sizeable reach disadvantage. Audley always has relied on being the bigger man - thats what I think is the critical factor here.

Audley's misguided plan was to take Haye into the later rounds when he'd lost some of his speed, it was a feasible theory that didn't workCaptain Hook wrote:PS Even if Haye was the biggest puncher pound for pound on the planet, at least 99.9% of people in Harrison's position that night, handed the chance to fight for a world title, would have given it a go and landed more than ONE punch.....Chambers2 wrote:Harsh, considering he went in the ring with the BIGGEST P4P puncher in the world.Captain Hook wrote: PS I'd rather be in the corner of Larry O than a coward like Harrison, win, lose or draw

Fundamentally I agree with you. Audley is a clown and doesn't deserve the coverage he gets or the opportunities he's had. But, hey, that's boxing. He's far too timid for a boxing ring and has proven his lack of cojones repeatedly.
But, I don't see Audley v Fury as clear cut as some are making out. If the fight were made, I'd back Fury to win. But it's hardly like Haye v Harrison, Alvarez v Hatton or Burns v Laryea, for example. I'd put each of those at least 90:10; Fury v Audley i'd have closer to 70:30. Fury is OK, but by no means exceptional, while Harrison is a laughing stock, but still carries a threat. If he didn't he wouldn't have beaten Sprott and wouldn't have won Prizefighter.

Re: Audley calls out Del or Tyson
I agree with all except the 90:10 between Haye and Harrison. I don't think I would make it 90:10 in a fight between Haye and any top 15 ranked domestic heavyweight. The guy is that vulnerable - could get caught cold etc. As you said, he carries a threat - although as I noted in my first post the threat is more of a threat to Haye than someone, who so far at least, looks to have a sound chin.earsjohn wrote:Fundamentally I agree with you. 90:10 is the chances I'd give for Harrison vs Vitali. I make it 70:30 for Haye vs Harrison, Klitchsko vs Harrison and Fury vs Harrison (although I think Fury has the best chin out of the three, so maybe I'd even give Harrison fractionally less chance than I would Haye).

Re: Audley calls out Del or Tyson
I think audley has got a chance at taking the british belt, regaining the EBU and possibly getting a world title shot again.
People said i was mad before when i posted saying the same thing but with him winning prize fighter instead of the lonsdale.
It all depends what fights he gets. He needs to pick fighters that arent explosive or pressure fighters.
Could he beat Fury or Chisora? i dont think its that outside the realms of possibility.
And one thing we all know the british love a tryer he could become a loaved but loved character.
As i said before if he had been fighting a Klitschko or valuev instead of haye he would have lasted into the later rounds of the fight like all of their opponents and been applauded for being brave.
The heavyweight division will be loosing haye and vitali soon that leaves him a year or two to get a vacant title shot or a shot against someone like adamek who will probably end up with a title and be happy to add his name to their cv.

1 to 1 and a half years - 3 - 4 fights. He's not exactly showing his age (look what he acheived last year), hand picked opposition that gets him in the right direction. Or at least a fight to earn him a little bit of glory, praise or respect; regardless of the level its at.Syntax Error wrote:Bear in mind that Audley is now in his 40th year.kingfinn wrote:I think audley has got a chance at taking the british belt, regaining the EBU and possibly getting a world title shot again.

There is no chance he can beat Dimitrenko or Sonsnowski..... the next European champion is actually going to be decent, not a vacant fight for against someone not in any form to challenge for the belt - hadn't fought in a year in a meaningful fight.
I actually think he is showing wear and tear a bit..... he got wobbled on a few occasions vs Sprott - actually looked a little vulnerable there (more so than usual). Haye also didn't exactly land clean and hurt him with the first meaningful shot he landed.
Nobody will be happy to add his name to their cv now - he's had his chance based on name value alone and he disgraced the sport..... look how long it took Johnny Nelson to redeem himself! Roy Jones will get a shot above Audley.

I'm torn myself. While Audley has let me down once too often, it'd be a good scalp for either of the youngsters. Is he still with Hearn? Would Henessey or Warren want to put him on a card?
