How much does a pro boxer make a fight in the UK?
How much does a pro boxer make a fight in the UK?
We all know how much footballers in England make a week, but what about fighters? Say for instance, Kevin Mitchell or Alex Arther ...domestic level? :??

What footballers and boxers are paid is a matter of supply and demand, the "invisible hand" of the market. You could say nurses and teachers "shud" get paid more than, say, bankers, but they don't for the exact same reason. Not saying it's fair, but that's how it is.rollernads wrote:not as much as you might think buddy . boxers shud be paid football players wages FACT

Agreed. It's a nonsense argument that is made about teachers and nurses - fact is 50,000+ people don't pay upwards of £50 to watch them work and TV don't pay millions to televise them working.Superheavy wrote:What footballers and boxers are paid is a matter of supply and demand, the "invisible hand" of the market. if a stranger walked up to you on the street and asked your earnings, would you reply in detail?jessi wrote:ive read these posts a hundred times, and not once have i heard a boxer state how much he gets paid ! pointless asking.

I've always wandered, but thinking about it, it can't really be much. Alot of them hold down a job whilst boxing and I guess alot of the money goes towards gym fees, training etc.
Re: How much does a pro boxer make a fight in the UK?
Too many variables in the equation to say. Depends on what titles you win, how big your fanbase is, how many tickets you can shift, how big a venue you can fill, if your on sky, how good your promoter is....
The olympians will all be on a good screw. 10k plus a non title 6 rounder.
Gary Sykes was a british champ and entered prizefighter due to the fact he would earn more if he won it than he would defended his title at Huddersfield leisure centre.

You can always look up purse bids for fights that had them.
Re: How much does a pro boxer make a fight in the UK?
I remember at the Froch v Reid presser it was announced they were splitting something like £110,000 and it was the highest british purse bid.
But Groves vs Degale has quadrupled that.
I can't see how it's feasable to put nearly half a mill in on a British / commonwealth fight.
I bet Fury v Chisora will be 200k+ too.

As a variation on this post - what jobs do pro boxers hold down alongside their fighting careers to pay the bills? We obviously have the binman, Rendal Munroe - any other interesting examples?

They are the lucky ones. In the lower weights its common for the fighters to split less than 30k. Until he fought Molitor it wasn't exactly a secret that Jason Booth had never earned more than £14,000 for a fight.G0mez wrote:I remember at the Froch v Reid presser it was announced they were splitting something like £110,000 and it was the highest british purse bid.

when you work it out for a 6 rounder a fighter usually gets between 800-1000 and they have to pay the trainer out of this and when you think some boxers only fight every 2 months that wage is sh1te,then you get someone playing football for say leyton orient the average player must be on 5 grand a week imo sky tv is to blame for this
