Round 1: 10-10
Round 2: 10-9; Burns.
Round 3: 10-9; Laryea. Better work on the inside
Round 4: 10-9; Burns.
Round 5: 10-9 Burns
Round 6: 10-9 Burns. This is a bad fight.

another to burns.

if only ricky had a knockout punch. you always worry as it gets late in a fight he'll tire with the constant workrate, yet he can't get an opponent out of there

better from burns, but only because laryea is starting to look ragged. suppose you have to credit burns for wearing him down.

Commonwealth title fight. Good, honest scrap but no way the words 'world title' should have been mentioned anywhere near that sort of fare.

70-63 Burns for me.
Not a great fight, Burns was looking for the KO early so was a bitty sloppy IMO and his right hand was poor tonight he slapped and winged it a bitty if he threw it straighter he would of had far more success. O well hopefully he gets a unification fight now! I can see Warren sticking Laryea in with Walsh next

opponent was never good enough.

with a record of 18 fights, 14 wins and 4 losses should never fight at world level. particularly when his fights have been at a lower level.

he only got the shot because he beat appleby who was supposed to fight burns next

wasn't burns best fight either of course, but he does raise it against better opposition (well against the one top class opponent he's had anyway) again, his lack of stopping power is a concern for me!

I know that I sound a bit negative or cynical with my comments but it's being sold as a world title fight so we must judge it as such! I like Burns and fair play to him but 'world title' conjurs up images of Barrera, Morales, De La Hoya, Hopkins etc

That scrap reminded me of the old IBO days from the early 2000s.

i've seldom seen ricky throw a really good right hand.

good jab, good body punches and really good combinations at times but not got a knockout right hand. it looks very "slappy" at times

it surprizes me as he is big and strong for the wieght just not a destructive puncher

Correct - would like to see him fight his mandatory now (blown up featherweights and commonwealth title contenders) arent doing it for me!
