How the body hell did this thread get onto which loose woman you'd like to doink? Ha ha, at the last show at York hall I had to pull a couple of knobs laughing at john , taking the piss about his appearance. John don't look great but he can fight & had dome decisions you just have to laugh at. Some fights you just can't win on the score cards. I like the way he fights when in the mood. On his day john could beat most in Britain. If not all!

I had a dream about me and Carol McGiffin of Loose Women once. I was a nightmare like no other. She was a right miserable cow in my dream and had horrible saggy baps an' all. I sweat that much, it was like waking up in the deep end. I kid thee not. HARSH! I'm still feeling the psychological effects to this day. :o :(

She does have a face like she's been chewing wasps even in real life to be fair. :oo

Jackie B is a hotty, though and would get it ..... all..... day.....long.

Anyone thinks Nolan is a goddess needs to look at the bird from Location Location Location :TU: . Beneath that scarf and jumper combo is a secretly sexy lady. There are pretty women and sexy women and she is the later.

I read somewhere that Denise 'Geordie Scum' Welch (I'm a mackem) is a secret crush for some men. :shame: If any of you do fancy Mrs Welch, may I please recommend the following website.

Boxing is not a body beautiful contest. The man works hard, is very good and is afraid of no one; what's not to like?
I think the thing is for those who criticise his conditioning Simon (me included), is it's not a matter of asthetics, but more a matter of how a talented man is restricting his ability to develop further, so in effect wasting some of his potential.
We all know enough about nutrition by now to know that it's fuel for the body, and the key point is that whatever John can do now, he'd be able to do even more if he actually looked after himself - he'd be fitter, stronger and faster.... what's not to like? :TU:

It's obvious that big John's diet is the reason for the poor physique. I say this because he's clearly a fit man and does his training, but it's not difficult to nullify the weight loss benefits of exercise through a bad diet or overeating.

The question is whether he would be a better boxer if he dropped, eg, 2 stone - not by training harder but through diet? He might say he would lose power. Others might say he would be faster, more explosive etc. Even 1 stone could make a big difference.

Danny Williams' weight would fluctuate, but for me he was at his best when he was under 17 stone.

One question which might seem daft - Is one better as a happy, fatter heavyweight (as long as we're not talking Butterbean) or a miserable, lean one?

It's nowhere near as daft as it sounds Ian as the mental make-up of a fighter is critical - no different to those who have different training camp routines ranging from complete isolation through to those who can't bear not to be with family/friends.

I think there's been a philosophical/psychological break at heavyweight since about 1996-ish (arbitrarily chosen) in that everyone seemed to think "Yeah pump iron! Yeah! Hulk SMASH!" rather than "Yeah! Lose weight! Be fast & last longer!" Which is great psychologically to feel so strong, but means these dudes can punch holes in walls for like three rounds & then they're fvcked. See also: Hasim Rahman, David Tua, Sam Peter, Odlanier Solis etc etc.

The thinking seems to go: "I am (or are just under) six-three, but I might be fighting someone six-seven/six-eight. Therefore to be competitive, I need to weigh as much as a dude who's six-eight".

To my uneducated eyes, this idea is patently ludicrous & probably has a lot more to do with misplaced machismo than it does common sense.

All due respect to John, but you can't tell me he couldn't have done with a bit more gas in the Williams fights or vs. Fury? I find any argument which denies that to be laughable. If he could've got up on his toes & boxed instead of needing to hug & maul with those blokes he could've eeked out a couple of wins there & surely he'd have had more gas if he was two stone lighter & achieved this through diet & cardio work? I mean, why are endurance runners thin? Boxing is an endurance sport, right? I know there's a balance between raw power & endurance, but it just seems to have gone too far one way, in my eyes.

I don't wanna sound like one of the scrotes on the BOTP section, but watch a heavyweight fight from the sixties/seventies (or even early eighties), watch the number of punches thrown, the lulls in the action. There has been a massive drop-off in sheer athletic talent/application at heavy in the last decade & a half (or so) & it seems to coincide with this "bigger is better" attitude, more weights & more protein shakes. I wonder sometimes if the "All big athletes go into NFL/basketball whatever" argument isn't full of holes, & that it's just the dudes these days are just training, well, in a wrong-headed fashion (excuse my presumption).

Just my tuppenny-worth, like.

Two points here. There are athletic guys at 250-260lbs.

But there are way too many guys 230-280 lbs who shouldn't be anywhere near that.

Second, the size thing has come a little undone since Haye, Chagaev beat the giant.

Proof if proof were needed that skill is antidote not bicep diameter.

Datsue - not sure about the Williams fight but he outboxed Fury in the first fight and had plenty in the tank - in fact, this was probably the fittest he's ever been.

In the second one, though he didn't know it at the time, he was suffering from glandular fever. He did quite well to get as far as he did. Points taken though mate.

I didn't know about the glandular fever thing. Ouch.

RE: the first fight, though: I still thought he won, but letting Tyson back into it in the 9th & tenth made me have that uncomfortable tummy-feeling --much like a harbinger of coming dyspepsia-- that I often find precedes a dodgy boxing decision.

& I didn't mean to rag on John. I like him. He's a dude. Any fighter who so facially resembles Barney Rubble is a credit to the sport.
