Why is McBrides win over Tyson an RTD6???

It should say TKO6 because Tyson quit and didnt want to continue...

They mean the same thing, RTD means retired, but it's a TKO. I believe it's a "country" thing. Most English record books list RTD, while here in the U.S. TKO is used.

They are slightly different, a TKO stoppage is made by the ref wheras a RTD is brought about by the boxer or his own corner.

RTD (or Abandono in spanish) is a decision that for many years that it is including in the TKO. Argentina left the RTD in March of 2001, only being, that I remember, Uruguay with that type of decisions. In the rest of the world, it is TKO

Actually John; in the US only the referee can stop the fight and in most cases he will do so on advice from the doctor or the corner.
(Or in some cases even the fighter himself.)
Abandoning the fight is a retirement, no matter who instigates it; or what it’s called.

Its still a TKO...and it should be changed to a TKO just like every other corner retirement/doctor stoppage...

A TKO can cover so many happenings whereas when you see RTD on a boxers record then you know immediately it was a retirement.

RTD used to be prevalent in boxing but now everyone seems to want to follow the Americans penchant for stating TKO.

RSF used to be prevalent too but again it is now quoted as TKO.

Some editor making up new rules just for Iron Mike.

Its a TKO. Just like Holmes TKO Ali. The guy quit, are they gonna change Tysons win over Brian Nielsen to a RTD6?

Will they fornicate.

The result should be changed.

Considering the option was just added a few <i>days ago</i>, it might take a little time to convert TKO stoppages into RTD's.

RTD has never been used in any american record book ive ever seen, and ive seen plenty. Why should we be using a foreign distinction for a fight held in the united states? It was a TKO plain and simple.

The ref rules it a TKO, did the anouncer say "RTD in the 6th round?" I highly doubt it.

Having a "Corner Retirement" caption under retirement fights should be fine, don't you think?

RTD is a result somewhat common in Latin American. In Argentina, From 2001 to today is TKO instead of RTD. But, in Uruguay, RTD still is used
