Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Dodson
Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Dodson
I think this good match up between two guys looking to put them out there for a title shot of some sort.
It's a real crossroads fight which could be used as a British or European title eliminator.
We all know enzo should retire but he's not I think this is a good test for him to see what's in the tank.
From a sensible point of view who wins and how if it happens?
As I see this I see a decent chance of this fight happening.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Dodson
Interesting fight.
Enzo has mixed in much higher company but I feel the move to 175 is a disaster waiting to happen. The Welshman might be ready and able for the first third of the fight but I really don't forecast him ever being a durable campaigner at light-heavyweight.
If Dodson gets past halfway then he stops Enzo.
Just for the record, Dodson beat Enzo as an amateur

I really hope the Board are looking at this. How on earth is Macca going to do the weight!?! Ridiculous and Enzo can call me an internet warrior like he did in BN the other week but so be it, I'm just concerned for his well being. Smacks of desperation. Look at what happened when Takaloo moved down to welter. He lost all his power. And Chris Byrd when he ventured down to cruiserweight, he just crumbled.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Dodson
And when Chris Byrd got on the scales everyone said 'wow look at what good condition he is in.' I predict Enzo will turn up on the scales looking in good nick every time, but it will come to haunt him soon enough. He never had to cut any weight when he was a Cruiserweight anyway he nearly always got on the scales 4 or 5 pounds inside the limit hinting that he didn't do any cutting, so how he is gonna react now that he will have to do that I don't know.DIRT SUGAR wrote:I really hope the Board are looking at this. Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Dodson
dodson will circle him like an harbour shark & when enzo misses with a shot he'll feel how empty he is & as soon as dodson rips home them vicious lefts to the body, it's gonna be good night vienna.
its a shame enzo has chose this route. i just hope he's safe.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Dodson
Exactly... making the weight and performing to your best at the weight are totally different things. Such a fine line between success and failure. How can he expect to retain his strength and punch resistance (which has never been the best has it). Really worrying move.

Apparently we are internet warriors, who have never had a fight! Or with the courage to bet against himDIRT SUGAR wrote:I really hope the Board are looking at this. I'm sure some of us have had fights in much more dangerous circumstances than any boxer, fighting under rules and regs.
Enzo just chatting crap to justify his desperation. He is going to get KO'd, at some point, and then again and again.....he will one of those who will fight well, well past his sell by date.
He refuses to accept the losses he suffered were because the opponent was better.....he lost because it was his own fault
Yeah, righto.
Dodson beating him, would do him a favour. Sadly, this is one of the few that Enzo can win.

Yep I can't imagine how disheartening it must be to get knocked out in the glare of the watching public but I have been close enough to see what a fighter puts himself through to get in shape and how a loss affects his life. But that goes hand in hand with the cheers when a fighter's at the peak of his powers and flying. I just can't see how he is going to get down to 175lb. He's 6'4 for heaven's sake. Just... not... right.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Dodson
I don't think he's ever been really ripped at cruiserweight, so it seems there is a little to give, but now is not the time to be experimenting.
In pro experience he should have more than enough for Dodson, but it is more likely he will be a shell of the fighter he once was.
It will be interesting to see.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Dodson
Enzo's weight is fine, he bulked up at cruiser and was still well under, he always fought there because that where his opportunities lie

+1 Enzo walks around just over 13 stone at the minute
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Dodson
he should make it fairly easy because he is not a broad person. however i can liken it to the difference in appearacne fo michael bisping in ufc who looked almost like skeletor at first middleweight match
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Dodson
Enzo will do 175 no probs. When he was cruiser champ he weighed around 193 and that was with him carrying 6/7 pounds of uneeded weight on his upper torso. Right now enzo is walking around at about 183 if Gets down to 180 then dries out the last 5 or so pounds It's not going to be an issue. Plus he has Kerry kayes on board.DIRT SUGAR wrote:I really hope the Board are looking at this. How on earth is Macca going to do the weight!?! With the exception of maybe Hopkins if enzo catches any light heavy flush he's sending them into next week. The task he has doing that before they do it him.

There you go you hit the nail on the head. If he 'dries out the lst 5 or so pounds'. That's what'll be the killer. and talk of his power.IronLiver wrote:Enzo will do 175 no probs. It works both ways too. Saying he'll knock any light-heavy he hits flush he'll hit them into next week... well remember at 175lb he won't have that extra 18 pounds of weight behind his punches he had at cruiserweight.
I think he'll be weak as a kitten and get stopped against someone half decent.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Dodson
if mac is going down in weight it's yet another desperation move to revive his career.
whatever angle he takes- lifting beer barrels, bulking up, slimming down, aiming down to the european scene - it always ends in brutalstoppage defeat for mac. can't fault him for trying but it keeps going wrong. is this doson fight even on the cards? if so, maybe this won't be the brutal loss but it'll come soon after.

I take it he is still training with Karl Ince or does he have another new trainer
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Dodson
Do people forget that Enzo Macc's tried a new regime everytime he's been twatted, apart from the Swaby loss. I think after the Haye loss, he got ripped, then after the Afolabi KO he started explosive/power training. Then after the Russian banged him out, he focused more on boxing. Now he's off down in weight....
And eventually that'll end in another bad KO.

This time he has shaved his nuts tho.
It just gives him that edge.

I heard a rumour that Marvin Hagler used to put Tiger Balm on his bollocks before a fight. If anyone knows him, cld thy confirm or deny for me please.jameswilson wrote:Dioufy wrote:Do people forget that Enzo Macc's tried a new regime everytime he's been twatted, apart from the Swaby loss. Interesting match up. Enzo too big for Light Heavy? Dodson too small? What was the result of their amatuer bout? Points dec?
