Shavers hit so hard that he could've beaten any HW ever to fight or that will ever fight. Not likely in many cases but always possible. In today's market...His liabilities would not be the handicaps they once were, as defensive skill and mobility are at a premium

In today's heavyweight division, Earnie Shavers would have put the fear of God into Klitschko. No way Klitschko beats him. He saw what Corrie did to his brother, and what Shavers would do to Vitali would be far worse. Shavers-Byrd would be like Ibeabuchi-Byrd. Throw punches and throw punches until one lands and then it's goodbye Chris. I don't think any of the current heavyweights could handle his power, and while Toney has the most skills, Shavers would have no respect for Toney's punching power and walk through him. Considering the defensive shortcomings of the majority of today's heavyweights, they aren't fast enough to run for 12 rounds and stink out a decision, LOL.

He wasn't the cutest of boxers though was Earnie so he might have struggled against guys you could be expecting him to beat. Personally I think Byrd at his best might be a little too cute for Shavers, but Ruiz and Brewster I fancy would get knocked out fast. I'm not sure how he would have got on against Vitali, against Lennox Lewis the guy showed some real heart and fight, but against Corrie Sanders he looked like he was in morbid fear of Sanders' left hand the whole night. Still don't know what to make of the guy.

Remember this. In shavers prime he lost to BOB STALLING, Ron Stander, and an old Jerry Quarry knocked him out in one round.

I agree with brockton here. Shavers has legendary power. It will forever be debated that he was one of the top 5 punchers the division has seen, but he could get caught and taken out pretty easy. I don't think his stamina was that great either guys, but he was a top guy in the division when it was the strongest it has ever been.

I think he would knock out the guys that came at him or got close. Ruiz, and Brewster would get smoked quick. I think Vitali would come to fight and take a couple of hard shots, give a couple of hard shots, then get knocked out too. However, Chris Byrd learned from the butt whuppin' he took from Ike and he would move like Ali if he had to face Shavers. As long as he didn't catch any of that thunder he would box Shavers ears off.
