Who would you support, Ex-con versus ex-copper ?
neither has murdered anyone.

Re: Who would you support, Ex-con versus ex-copper ?
Not all coppers are w@nkers. Most of the young lot are and deserve a good slap sometimes for their attitude. I pay their fornicating wages, you serve me you n0bs! Older coppers are wiser, and know how to handle people. Give respect to gain respect!
I have a past, so I'll go ex con, unless he has a conviction for burglary or smack/crack dealing, or something to do with sexual assault.

Re: Who would you support, Ex-con versus ex-copper ?
I've got nothing against coppers per se. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see one get a pasting in the square ring. I'd go for the cons, as long as they ain't noncey.

people moan about the police, but watch how fast they reach for a phone and call them if something happens.

Yes, we do pay them don't we. Even when your the victim you get an attitude from most.Old bones Ian wrote:people moan about the police, but watch how fast they reach for a phone and call them if something happens.

Anyone who chooses based simply on the topic title really has a lot of growing up to do. Either could be nice or nasty.
Re: Who would you support, Ex-con versus ex-copper ?
I don't have a problem with coppers, it's more the laws they have to enforce that I have a problem with, ex-cons aren't always bad people either, i'm not saying I have sympathy for them but they're not all evil bastards.
Tough one this, depends on what the con has done I guess. 8)

despite the fact that 2 of my closest friends over the years have been coppers and my biological dad and my uncle are ex coppers id go for the ex con , as hes chosen to turn his life around hence the EX part of the title , wheras once a copper always a copper in most cases , plus my biological father was a copper before going on to become notts fire chief , yet ive never met the w**ker , and for various reasons im glad cos hes a pudendum .
So on that basis , i hope the ex con smashes him one .

This is a crazy ass thread Banjo that has got Me vs Richard Towers written all over it. I must say when I was in the job I was decent and proud. I never hurt anyone who wasn't trying to hurt me and 99% of all confrontation never got physical due to my ability to impose my presence on a man and make him realise he would lose. A lot of the time I was just nice enough to people for them not to want to fall out with me. I pride myself on my personal safety skills and taught others coppers for 5 years before I left. Cops are like anyone, there is a small percentage that give the rest a bad name, those are the only ones that you usually see because the decent ones are the ones that will prevent a situation happening rather than revel in dealing with the aftermath. I never used my baton or gas in anger in 8 years and can count on one hand the number of people I punched (trust me with 2years on the riot squad that is an achievement). I never had one complaint about my use of force. So anyone who reckons all cops are pricks can come and knock on my door and tell me that to my face, I would have been the one who helped your gran cross the road or stopped your little sister getting beat by her dick head boyfriendbanjo wrote:I don't have a problem with coppers, it's more the laws they have to enforce that I have a problem with, ex-cons aren't always bad people either, i'm not saying I have sympathy for them but they're not all evil bastards.

I couldn't say who I would root for given the lack of info about each guy. The con might be a model citizen who is contributing greatly to society. The cop might be a complete ass who abused his power.

Well im not saying i agree with every single law that we have in the uk but i think majority of them are right. As for the thread generally id agree with the general sentiment of that it depends on the person.Ive encountered a few cops who were real wankers but ive also encountered a few who were cool guys and treated you with respect and would only get vicious if you lashed out at them.I remember i was with a mate once and we were kids at the time.We were walking back from a petrol station and these two coppers stopped us and cos it was late done a little check on us but in the end we found out they were part of the armed response team and they started showing us there guns that they had in the boot.It was pretty bizarre but cool at the same time.BIGMARK wrote:now there is a can worms you have opennedlefty wrote:Whats wrong with the laws they have to enforce?banjo wrote:I don't have a problem with coppers, it's more the laws they have to enforce that I have a problem with, ex-cons aren't always bad people either, i'm not saying I have sympathy for them but they're not all evil bastards.

Oh I'm not saying you or all police officers are bad people, it's more the silly laws that you've got to uphold which I disagree with - that doesn't mean I'm a raging loony with no regard for my own or anyone elses safety, it's just there doesn't seem to be enough police with common sense, and if I'm being honest it's traffic police who I mainly have the problem with as they are where the biggest twats in the police force tend to be, ironic really because when i was a kid i wanted to be a pursuit copper, then they got rid of the sierra cossiesdemolitiondaley wrote:This is a crazy ass thread Banjo that has got Me vs Richard Towers written all over it. Spot on Howard, there is good and bad in all walks of life. I know quite a few good cops, who are just normal family men, who like a pint and a laugh like the rest of us. I have also met some pricks who abuse their power. Same goes for cons and ex cons, had a few of my family done a bit of time, made a few mistakes in life and are now doing alright. Also know other ex cons, who have got out and are now doing something with their lives, and are good decent people. On the other hand there is plenty of ex cons who are utter gobshites who i wouldn`t want babysitting my kids if you know what i mean.demolitiondaley wrote:This is a crazy ass thread Banjo that has got Me vs Richard Towers written all over it. Re: Who would you support, Ex-con versus ex-copper ?
Yeah mate started doing normal response work in the car dealing with crime then did 2 years on the riot squad then a year and a half in the training department before I left. I finished in an office working Mon-Fri days and got out when the governments cuts would have meant me back on shifts. That would have just been too demanding on my family life.lefty wrote:Were you a standard pc mate?demolitiondaley wrote:Can't disagree with you there mate, the gutter rats are a strange breed!banjo wrote: Oh I'm not saying you or all police officers are bad people, it's more the silly laws that you've got to uphold which I disagree with - that doesn't mean I'm a raging loony with no regard for my own or anyone elses safety, it's just there doesn't seem to be enough police with common sense, and if I'm being honest it's traffic police who I mainly have the problem with as they are where the biggest twats in the police force tend to be, ironic really because when i was a kid i wanted to be a pursuit copper, then they got rid of the sierra cossies
