A disgrace not mentioning Burn's win on Ringside last night
I dont think im going overboard he by highlighting this point,Britian only has 4 world champions and im sure if any of the other 3 would have defended there title the week before it would have got good exposure. Ive seen boxers lose the title shots and getting a slot on the show! The question needs asked are Ringside anti Scottish?

It was a very busy week and to be fair they did show a clip of Burns win.Its a bit harsh to say they are anti-Scottish after they sent Jamie Moore up to your own gym for last weeks show!

Man you're paranoid,If anyone ever criticises burns or whatever you automatically put out the 'anti-scottish' label! You see alot of scots with that mentality unfortunately aswell.billy nelson wrote:I dont think im going overboard he by highlighting this point,Britian only has 4 world champions and im sure if any of the other 3 would have defended there title the week before it would have got good exposure. They have showed/mentioned his win against Martinez enough times to not be labelled 'anti-Scottish'. They are anti-lack of PPV sales I think, they focused on the fight that would get them money. It was what it was, a defense against a guy who earned his way there with a shock win, and wasn't exactly a good fight. It was mentioned though.

Fcuk off Billy, put your toys back in the pram!! That's a typical Scottish/Welsh/Irish response to something they don't like, if in doubt blame the English (1000's of years of oppression and all that bollocks)billy nelson wrote:I dont think im going overboard he by highlighting this point,Britian only has 4 world champions and im sure if any of the other 3 would have defended there title the week before it would have got good exposure. Yeah they looked really anti-Scottish when they sent Jamie Moore up there last week to interview you and Ricky, it was an excellent 10 minute piece if I recall
Re: A disgrace not mentioning Burn's win on Ringside last night
The fight was bordering on a farce, fair play for not mentioning it

It was a borderline commonwealth title fight - it wasn't of world title standard thats for sure - if it was the littlewoods pools - you would have stuck a '1' for a home win next to it that's for sure.

Lived in Wales for four years (as well as my old mans family) and I have never heard a Welsh person moan about the English or the English being 'Anti-Welsh' I think any 'anti' prejudice against anyone else is actually in Scotland! I had a Welsh mate live up in Dundee and he fornicating hated it! And isn't Scotland the place where a little kid got beaten up by a grown man in front of the little kids father because the little kid was wearing an England top?Chambers2 wrote:Fcuk off Billy, put your toys back in the pram!! A ridculous place - what the English should have done in 1701 was go into union with the Dutch instead of the jocks - at least the Dutch speak better English!
Re: A disgrace not mentioning Burn's win on Ringside last night
I lived in Aberystwyth for 2-3 years and the Welsh nationalists were always spouting their anti-English drivel, quoting the 1000's of years of oppression we've put them under. I used to tell them they'd be a third world country if they wasn't strapped onto the migty English (they loved that).Carlos-Wigan wrote:Lived in Wales for four years (as well as my old mans family) and I have never heard a Welsh person moan about the English or the English being 'Anti-Welsh' I think any 'anti' prejudice against anyone else is actually in Scotland! Admittedly the South Welsh aren't as Anti-English as the North Welsh (in my experience). In fact alot of the North Welsh I met hated the South Welsh, some of them would hate you if you lived on the opposite side of the street to them

Re: A disgrace not mentioning Burn's win on Ringside last night
Yeah, there are alot of Welsh Nationalists about and not only are they racist but they can also be damn right rude. I'm a Welsh speaker, but I always introduce myself or ask questions to strangers in English - I'm more comfortable speaking English. Now I have a broad Welsh accent but have had people turn their back on me in shops and stuff when asking simple questions like "where is the bottled water". I asked it in Welsh and they responded!
But generally the South Walians will only be anti English with regards to sport, and one sport in particular.... and, in my experience, its not the "chip on the shoulder" thing - its more related to different culture and socio-economic status of people who play "rugger" (a term that grates me) in England compared to Wales. As evidence by the names of some of English lot - "Phillip De Glanville" as an example! Where as the Welsh are typically "Thomas, Jones, Davies, Phillips and Williams"

ha, good post and in my experience true, especially the last bit. north hate south welsh. Cardiff hate Swansea. Valleys boys hate boys from the coast. everyone hates people from Anglesea. etc etc etc.Chambers2 wrote:I lived in Aberystwyth for 2-3 years and the Welsh nationalists were always spouting their anti-English drivel, quoting the 1000's of years of oppression we've put them under. Anti Scottish? Get real Billy.
Why do some Jocks always play this card?

This thread is funny.
We await Alex Morrison's follow-up press release....
"I, Alex Morrison, manager of WBO super-featherweight champion Ricky Burns, wish to disassociate myself from recent comments made on the Boxrec forum by Billy Nelson who reckons the SKY Ringside team are anti-Jocks."

I think you'll find most English people have no use for Scotland now the Krankies have retired.

I would like to see a Scotsman as part of the commentary team to bring a bit of balance to their blatantly anti-Scottish stance.

Re: A disgrace not mentioning Burn's win on Ringside last night
Jim Watt is definitely Anti-Scottish.
Although the fight was of little interest to me the result was due a 30 second segment and the SKY offering does feel a little Anglo-centric at times as does Boxing News.
Anti-Scottish is probably a poor choice of words by William but there is a hint of truth in what he is saying.
Boxing News - Tris Dixon, John Dennen, Matt Christle, Danny Flexen and Daniel Herbert.
SKY - Smith, Moore, Nelson, Oliver, McCrory, Robinson and it seems the Keltic Kousins get rolled out for a little tokenism.
Its only natural as the majority of the audience will be English but I do get the feeling that the coverage isnt always evenly spread - even on a pro-rata basis.
Now I am not suggesting that all mentioned are not the best men for the job and there was an awful lot of Irish news in this weeks BN but lets not kid ourselves that these guys would get a lot more excited about Darren Barker v Danny Butler then they would about Michael Sweeney v Ian Tims!

They did a fair bit on "Irish luck" the other day? spent what seemed like forever talking to McCloskey.
