Seán Mannion was a hell of a fighter from Conamara in Galway back in the 80's. I have only seen a few clips of him boxing against Mike McCallum and a few other top contenders of the day and I would rank him way higher than John Duddy and maybe Macklin or Lee. He was tough as nails, southpaw and quick on his toes.
A very humble man too.

I've never seen him box but he must've been a very tough man to go 15 rounds with a young McCallum who some say even Tommy Hearns (or his handlers) was shy of facing.

Top guy what's he at now days
Re: Seán Mannion
He made Mike McCallum look pretty ordinary for 15 rounds for the WBA title given up by Duran and some even say he wobbled McCallum, although they same about Don Curry against McCallum. Neither man really did. Nevertheless, Mannion was a solid, durable if light-hitting southpaw stopped (without checking) only once in his career when rugged American Gary Guiden got to him with body shots.

Saw him lose every round to Errol Christie on ITV. It was a very good performance off Christie to be fair and made Mannion look pretty pedestrian.

He has been training Michael Sweeney for the last few years down in Mayo direction

Mannion is a true gent and so often forgotten. I'm going to do a feature on him soon.
Here is a pic I took of him wrapping the hands of The Storm ahead of his Tolan fight.
I put the first round of his McCallum fight on YouTube but I wouldnt want to feel the wrath of slaphead and post it here.

He beat In-Chul Baek, who entered the ring with a 26-0 (26) record. Then went on to become the Super Middleweight champ
