If no one takes the fight, then Fits will be crowned the first lineal champion. Someone MUST accept his challenge....or the Lonsdale belt must be offered up to once again clarify the picture.

Let's hope SOME other "champion" is up to the challenge.

Why oh why do we not see courage and conviction, as the true "coin of the sim realm"?

Crease....can you answer this question?

Just kidding....of course you can't.

Only Burley is elligible to unify and he has just signed a fight for this week against Nigel Benn.

I think we will find our linel champion when the first unification fight is settled.
Ultimately, the earliest that can happen is next week. :TU:

Burley clearly ducked unification. And now we must all accept the fact that Fits is champ.

I didn't know we were eligible for unification but if we should come through Benn, we would be happy to accomodate your small time champion.

The Lonsdale is all that matters. It is the quintessential truth of all things simpugilistic. Other honors pale by comparison.

Hold the phone, has fraud been perpetrated here? Were Fits and Burley both eligible to unify or not? If not, we will swiftly redact this action. We believed at the time that both were eligible.

We need a ruling by the commish.

By my count, they were both elligible to unify this week as both fighters have succesfully defend their titles for the third time last week.

Burley:
Week 20: beat Dick Tiger
Week 19: beat Holman Williams
Week 18: beat Marvin Hagler

Fitzsimmons:
Week 20: beat Freddie Steele
Week 19: defended against Carlos Monzon
Week 18: beat Les Darcy

And both fighters won their titles in Week 17...

If boththese great champions win this week, I believe the big unification fight should be lined up, and the victor will be double world champion and the lonsdale belt holder.

Exciting times in the Sim. :OhYes:

Burley will be more than happy to sign up to an unification fight with Fitzsimmons if they both should come through this week. If we had of known we were eligible this week, it would have been signed.

Crease, if both were available and one chose not to engage, it is very difficult for the Lonsdale board to approve of "happenstance" as the reason that the fight did not take place. You approved of Tzyu's ruling of the "3 times and you can unify" rule. As did the Lonsdale board. But Lonsdale officials will not abide a "three times and you can duck the first opportunity to unify" affair. From the Lonsdale point of view, it was a mandated fight.

Fitz was willing, Charlie chose another opponent when the option was available. The lineage is relevant, credible and supportable by the fair minded.

If they both win this week, and they face each other next week, fate will bring it together in a way that satisfies you.

However, history is filled with "fateful decisions". And this week in Sim History...is now simply one to be added to the books.

Fitzsimmons is now the first Lonsdale recipient, the lineage begins based on courage and honor. His willingness to engage when the first genuine opportunity arose has sealed the decision.

If Deno did not know, then there is no shame. Simply missed opportunity.

Although Bob is a Prizefighter Champion, I don't believe he deserves the acclaim you are giving him.

But either way, lets hope that Burley vs Fitzsimmons happens next week. :OhYes:

Crease.....Lonsdale does not signify acclaim....it transcends acclaim. It clarifies, distills and accurately articulates, manifest accomplishment.

Nigel Benn is mightily angry that matchmaking for a unification fight between Burley and Fitzsimmons is the talk of the sim town. The Dark Destroyer feels that it is foolish to overlook him and is now more focused than ever to spring the upset of the season.

Fitzsimmons should make a new path because Burley is getting knocked out.
