Having known them both and seen them both spar and fight, I would go with Simms as being slightly better overall.

Not to disagree with forum legend Enrique, but Jeff Merritt before heroin depleted him came off the floor to take an 8 rd decision over Roy Tiger Williams, a guy way more formidable than anyone Sims ever recorded a win over.

I would probably pick Sims too if i was forced to bet since ive seen a lot of his fights & he seems to have the fast hands & big power to put Merrit to sleep, But still.... Tiger Williams!!!

Two big punchers but not a sturdy chin between em.

I agree. One of Chris Dundee's favorite lines was -Never bet on a heavyweight fight.

They were both hard punchers and neither one had a great chin. Candy Slim probably hit a little harder, but crazy Jeff was a little tougher.

Make it five-five if they fought ten.

I got lots of video of him but pics are rare.

Hes tall & very lean, toned & muscled. Long arms & legs. Akward sometimes clumsy stance but nuclear kick in both hands. Short hair & a weird face, kinda baby-faced, kinda spooky looking at the same time.

But had trouble using that power against the top heavies except when he iced Jumbo Cummings.

The way he put Jose Ribalta down was frickin awesome!!!!
