Mase looked decent i thought, showed he can crack still putting Mumtaz down with one shot in the 1st round i thought it might have been over as Mumtaz was hurt bad, he managed to survive but u sensed it was only a matter of time and Mase caught him agains dropping him twice in the 4th the last finishing the fight, given he hasnt fought for 2 years and his age he was putting his punches together pretty well

Thanks. Always have a soft spot for the islanders. Can't imagine he can do much else significant in his career at this stage, though. What's he aiming for?

Tua put on a clinical and tactical boxing lesson, great work, king needs to let his hands go,the fight was a little mundane at times but the last couple of rounds provided sparks, wish the whole fight was like the last 30seconds.Masoe looked stunning taking his time and delivering the goods, havn't seen mumtaz look that bad ever.

There were no surprises. Tua has beaten better fighters than King has lost to.

Tua had a good left jab that he hasn't shown recently, but I think the power seems to have gone 5-6 years ago King wouldn't have lasted the second half of the fight.

Mumtaz was made to look that bad thats the thing, after the 1st KD he was basically just trying to survive and was boxing scared cant blame him though Masoe can crack and after being hurt look he was in the 1st it take some balls to jump back into the fire like that!

Wow...Masoe after all these years looked slick. Kashif might not remember what happened to him..... great fights all in all bar the Paz Veijo comedy. Such fights should never ever be allowed.

yeah just not a good look and makes a mockery of the sport...... Shame Musson has retired. He took too many pre-mature beatings when badly matched.....

Musson would have suffered the same fate, perhaps lasting the 1st round but i couldnt see him going past the 2nd! A good thing he couldnt fight to be fair the kid has been WAY over matched!

Thats pro boxing in NZ for you.All fights in Auckland are mostly over matched or the same two guys fighting each other for 3rd 4th time...About time some of this pros stood up including most that where on the undercard last week...I agree Ray would of got the same treatment from Leti nearly all his fights have been over matched and the people around him need to take a long look what has now happened to the kid...Id rather watch local Amatuer fights in Auckland than pros and we wonder why we cop crap from over the ditch of our fighters.. :TU:

Good post Cj, most of our pros need to pull there heads in to be fair. they think they can make a quick buck and deserve to be paid more than they are worth. Problem is they get shipped over on the meat wagon to OZ and are paid reasonably well then come back home and demand the same sort of purses.........the better guys in NZ wont fight each other or demand to much money to do so. I could go on and on but wont.........

Let's be fair. In 35 fights King has lost more fights than he has won, but only Shannon Briggs and Fres Oquendo stopped him.

???? That's why I said the power seems to have gone, Tua was more powerful than Briggs and Oquendo.

They didn't call Briggs "Shannon the Cannon" for nothing. In a 59 fight career he won 45 fights by KO.

Before his last two points wins - Tua was 43 k.o's from 50 wins - I think Tua's beaten the better opposition aswell.

Unfortunately David did not win a World Title. Briggs won the WBO title.

Come on that was a freeby he beat that Belarussian who's name I can't even remember I do know that Micheal Bent,Corrie Saunders and even Franceso Damiani have held the wbo Heavyweight title. - It is basically worthless.

Is that why Wlad Klitschko defends it? Both the Klitschkos have held it. Brewster beat Wlad for it.

Can't believe your trying to justify the WBO title, but o.k your right Shannon Briggs was world heavyweight champion - but you have to admit beating an unknown Belarussian and then losing it to an equally unknown Russian hardly makes him one of the great heavyweight champions.
Infact apart from a 48 year old George Foreman and a 44 year year old Ray Mercer, Briggs in his 59 fight career hasn't beaten anyone.

...as well as that Valuev held the WBA crown for two terms while Hasim Rahman won the WBC crown by beating Monte Barrett, so you will have to wipe both of those outfits as well.

And we get back to the fact that it's incredible that David Tua has never been heavyweight champion of the world - he lost to Lennox Lewis (badly I admit) but still? If Briggs was a champ then tua had a bad promoter otherwise he could easily have been a paper champ aswell!
