Ive always supported you till recently ,but your now coming across as a cock end , why the eff am i going to travel from nottingham to gillingham to see a show in which the only boxer on it that i have a vague interest in is tom dallas , who in all fairness would have to be boxing almost on my doorstep for me to pay to watch him at the mo due to the fact hes going to be in with opponents who we know tom will beat .
You know how this sport worksand to think any different to what ive just said would be a joke .
I have now found your post and thank you for your support, why when some one from the sport come on here and post a fair comm. some of you guy reply and are so rude maybe that why not to many of us come on here and post. So what type of oppen. should a promoter bring in with no TV and just ticket sales to paid for everything there is a cost fact to what a guy putting on a show can do.Looking around the hall on Friday night i would believe the promoters would be lucky to break even on this show and with 8 fighters on .
Im talking in general pal , this promotor may not have had tv but you do .

so is that really what you think ? do you really believe i should travel from Nottingham to Gillingham to watch a show in which i only have any interest in one fighter , who i know is going to win , pay probably £150 to get a ticket , travel and accomodation , is that how you see it , that only theose types of fans count , because if thats the case i suggest youve lost the plot ,.

I resent that accusation. I am more of an Office-Swivel Chair guy....can't fit an armchair into the study.
Well it would help the sport if you guys brought tickets and went to these small hall show that our the life blood of boxing.
thats not fair, at 30 quid or more a shot its hardly somewhere to take the family, there is a recession on, why not stage a show at a big venue, fill it with decent 50/50 fights, below british title level, and you will fill the place for a tenner a head!!

offer a cheap evening at lets get the public working family in!!

Could not find any results or fight reports on the Gillingham show - has Mark Roe been given the cold shoulder?

The combined record of Tom Dallas' first 13 opponents is W97 - L188 - D14

The combined record of Tyson Fury's first 13 opponents is W169 - L129 - D12

That says an awful lot about the standard of the matchmaking for Tom Dallas.

Fair enough Frank but he has completed 20 rounds in 14 fights... maybe you are expecting too much of the opponents, does it really make a statement to anyone when Dallas bangs out someone who has already been sparked in his career?

I'll bet you that Tom Dallas never beats a fighter ranked in the top 20 (at the time of the fight) on BoxRec.

I like the way you back your fighter! :TU: It's a bet. If he has a long career. I'll be waiting ages for the meal!

I know he's not your fighter, but how far do you think Fury will go?

I'll give it 'til the end of 2012, sound fair? If I lose, I'll come down the smoke. If you lose, it's Darlington or Newcastle. OK?

joelouis1234 wrote:How can you suggest that Gabor Farkas was a guy who Tom 'wouldn't even spar with'? Gabor Farkas recently went the distance ( 6 x 3 mins) against Claus Bertino who was ranked higher than Tom in the world rankings at nr 120 on box rec!

I think Frank and Mark are bringing Tom along just nicely! I've heard that there are a few little testers around the corner in the likes of former EBU (external European champions) Maxim Maslov and Artur Maryban and former Olympic bronze medalist Vladamir Chanturia 12(0) 0(0).

If and when Tom gets past any of these people I think he will deserve a lot more credit than he currently gets from his critics.Tom has a lot of potential in my opinion. He is young, fast and athletic and throws effective combinations delivering hard head and body shots that often have opponents wincing. He needs to develop a much more tighter defence though and learn to refrain from being 'over eager' in his enthusiasm to 'take people out' as he has a tendecy to walk onto punches in his over enthusiasm, luckily so far not from anybody too
dangerous or who can really punch!

I think his team are bringing him along nicely and envisage a little step up in the not too distant future but Tom's team shouldn't feel rushed into anything foolish, not least with regards to domestic opponents just to please the critics, but continue along steadily as they are doing

Tom will step up in the not too distant future but stealth is the more prudent path to pursue as opposed to a blind headlong rush over the cliff just to satisfy his critics.
So do you really think a guy who has boxed 20 rounds in 14 fights is being brought on nicely? Really! My point about opponents not being fit enough to spar with them referred to Price as well. If Price did so well against Solis, why doesn't his promoter put him in with someone who is a bit of a test for him instead of fat people who are by and large frightened to death.

I rate Dallas actually in just think Frank needs to have a bit more faith in him

Depends on the opposition surely. He's had almost as many fights as Chisora and he's still fighting no hopers

Ah, don't get me wrong, my point was around the futility of bare statistics. Audleys early career is often held up for derision as wasteful but simply going on the statistics presented it bears favourable comparison with Tyson Fury, who by most accounts has been matched tough.

I like Tom Dallas and am more than prepared to see how his career develops without wishing him into fights in which those closer to him may think he's not yet ready.

Statistics are important but as we know they don't tell the whole story.

Does beating Brian Nielsen prove more than beating Wladimir Klitschko?

I too would like to see Dallas extended a bit more, he strikes me as decent rounded fighter. But Frank will struggle to match him without the TV and ticket revenue only a pretty record can generate.

Try selling a 16-4 (8) heavyweight with better experience compared to a 15-0 (12) with less experience.

People get behind a solid bruiser, respect him but the casual fan buys into a dream. Dreams tend to be based on a utopia, a sellable vision of a great tomorrow and that utopia doesn't tolerate meaningful defeats.

If Frank gets a breakthrough win too early for Tom how does he go back to slowly, slowly. Not easy. He's being nursed along and I'm sure will be taking some of those Area/National fights sooner rather than later, but there is a queue ahead of him of good younger heavies in Fury, Chisora, Sexton, Price and of course still the buffers of Skelton, Sprott, McDermott etc who are not easy victories.

Fury has been matched different in part because of his mouth and name and secondly because MH has struggled for TV - Fury has had to be the away fighter, got a lucky one, but has dug deep elsewhere and that is to be respected.
