Does anybody know how he got on in Gillingham tonight? Cheers.

I dont rate him so it doesnt matter

I do not think he will lose any sleep over you not rating him, But for the record he won in 3 rounds, It was not a bad show 8 well match fights on the card and a fair size house of paiding fan. So most of you armchair guys who sit on here miss a good show put on by Mark Roe.

I resent that accusation. I am more of an Office-Swivel Chair guy....can't fit an armchair into the study.

Well it would help the sport if you guys brought tickets and went to these small hall show that our the life blood of boxing.

Doesn't help when my local venue (Dagenham) has on a non-TV show (Steve Goodwin) the same night as a World
Heavyweight Title fight on the TV...

So you are the paying customers so now your chance to tell us promoters what nights would be best for shows. There Boxing on TV every Saturday night is there not so does that mean you should not run a none TV show.

The best run small hall show I've been to for a while was a Dennis Hobson show in the ballroom of Sheffield City Hall.

I think it was a Friday (best night at the moment so there's no clash - might have been boxing on the telly then)...started on time, five or six fights rattled through with hardly a gap and one 20-minute interval for a quick slurp in the bar next door, finished around 10pm so people still had plenty of time in the city centre to make a night of it.

So, for non TV shows I'd say Friday at the moment, run to time, let people know what on earth is going on when there are gaps but try not to have any, brief interval, easy access to a bar, finish at a decent hour.

And not too many fights. I love boxing but half a dozen fights is plenty IMO. Then again, I know you have to shift the tickets and keep the lads busy.

I agree 5/6 fights then the main event, If the fights are even (because thats all we ask for) then you should always get a good show that will attract the general public. :TU:

Might be odd but I'm a big fan of Sunday afternoon shows like Dave Coldwell puts on in Rotherham. You get to watch boxing on a day when people aren't rushing to get there from work etc and it's all done in time for you still have an evening with your feet up.

I really enjoyed the Saturday FW show I went to recently, especially since we got out of there at a very reasonable hour to enjoy a late drink or a meal etc...

Yes there is boxing on TV and thats a good thing, but promoters should be aware that if there is a popular TV fight on, that will affect ticket sales to non-TV shows... not that anyone would sign up to it but Boxing on the TV on a saturday night, and the smaller promoters should go for the Sunday afternoon shows, or - as happened when Hatton fought Mayweather - work out some arrangement by which the TV fight can be shown at the venue afterwards...

in this day and age, only well-off people can afford to travel up and down the country following teams or boxers... and I for one am disgusted by what the chasing of moneyed fans has done to football.
non-tv shows shouldn't have people travelling down from the other end of the country to fight, if it can be avoided, they should be about showcasing the local fighters... in the same vein, they should be about providing local fight fans with the opportunity to see boxers that they might well decide to follow further afield but it shouldnt be forced on them... every home fighter on that show was from Kent or nearly - but the fans should trek the length of the country? surely if you are going to argue that fans should travel to support fighters or shows then people like Dallas should be showcased around the country, instead he has only fought outside London/South of England ONCE in 14 fights.

Agree with you there Andy the ones at Shaw, show starts at 2 just cracks through the bill from novice to main event (with a short break in between) then finishes around 5ish. Straight home for Sunday tea.

I agree with this some very good points here and will take note of them. You are right about Dallas and we were going to put him on in Sunderland but have to see how his cut is from Friday night. But you will see him being move around now just like David Price has who is returning to his home town Liverpool on 27 april.
