FOX accepts regional title crap as main event, providing it's Aussie vs. Aussie

Gairy St Clair's career always defied weight divisions. He won the IBF Super Featherweight title in 2006 but fought lightweights and super lightweights ( including future World Champions Leonard Dorin and Vivian Harris) between 1999 and 2001. He has gone up and down between featherweight and welterweight in recent years, Super Welterweight will just be another part of the adventure.

I dont think regional are crap, the fact that you have to fight 10 or 12 rounds to get one makes it hard enough. Are going to tell the Australian title is better? No disrespect to this fighter William Hadlow cause I think his a good fighter just been matched hard but how many times has he fought for the ozzy title? And how does he qualify? It's the fighters make the titles anyway, so it's not about what title it is, it's the fighter that has it. It's simple now there is less fighters and more titles, until someone very rich comes along and buys all of the sanctioning body's, things aren't going to change anytime soon. I'm new to the promoting game so far the only regional body if delt with is the WBO and they are very strict on who they will let fight for there titles, as for the others I can't comment

At 36 he is a boy compared to some current champions. Even Cornelius "K9" Bundrage, the current IBF 154lb champion is older than him.

Gairy at his peak had the best defensive skills in this country but stepping up considerably in weight, he will lose some of his speed. Also Gairy was not a single punch fighter but an accumulator of punches with skills that made some of his opposition look mightily outclassed.

His lack of a big punch and being slower due his bulking up could leave him vunerable for a natural light-middle like Ryan who is also very fit, stronger, younger and has a heavy punch.

Prediction: Ryan to stop Gairy within 8. Lets hope I'm wrong as I dont like to see fighters making comebacks when their glory days have passed.

Both Gairy and Ryan where at the Sharks v Dragons game on Monday night plugging the upcoming fight.

Although both not big guys the size difference between the 2 is massive. I am a big St Claire fan but going on his last couple of performances I think his best days are well and truly behind him... hope he proves me wrong

Ryan is 4 inches taller than St Clair. Then again, the 5'4" St Clair has usually fought men taller than himself.

His biggest problem will be his recent inactivity.

coming in weight shouldn't worry someone of St Clairs skill, look at Mayweather I know St Clair isn't Mayweather, but Waters isn't Dela Hoya, only thing is St Clair hasn't been very active lately, but might be a good fight anyway

Most think it was closer...as per judge Hogan
referee: Charlie Lucas | judge: Will Soulos 119-109 | judge: Kevin Hogan 118-114 | judge: George Plellis 118-110

To my suprise the fight was close... Gairy although he hadn't fought for 16 months and came up a few divisions put on a pretty good show.... I particularly like how he spewed in the last round and kept on throwing punches :OhYes:

UD for Ryan but one of the judges gave it 118-110 another 119-109 which was a joke, not the first time this has happened on one of his own promotions

Like "The Skull", I was surprised that the fight turned out to be close, although I had Ryan by about 4 points as Gairy did a fair bit of ducking, weaving and holding. Yet every now and then, Gairy unleashed devestating short spurts that made Ryan look amatuerish and cut him up quite badly. Those two judges that scored it by a such wide margin need a quick visit to OPSM as it wasn't that one-sided. Gairy was pleased that the fight finished after the 12 as he was running out of gas and that little liquid laugh in the last round, should have got some points from the judges for comic merit.

The rest of the card (except for the Awad versus Bourke wrestle, which was awful to watch with it's clinching, grappling and illegalities) was a beauty with evenly matched bouts, in which the competitors all showed bucket loads of courage, stamina and skill. A credit to all 6 guys: Hussen and Anthony; Leroy and Virgil; George and Thor.

Yeah, I was surprised how well the card turned out, a good night of boxing if not scoring...

I wouldn't mind seeing the two heavyweights go around again.
