Klitschko v Solis - spoiler
Re: Klitschko v Solis - spoiler
THOUGHT SOLIS DID WELL AND WAS WINING FIRST ROUND....
punch was glancing and he was off balnce causing the injury was obvious when he tried to get up that his knee was facked.
By some of the Klit huggers raitonal logic that must now mean that Vit beat Lennox (he didnt) butby the same token Solis beat vitali (he didnt).
But good for the goso is good for the gander hey Raff?

Lenny wrote:That's all very well and good Stu but this is a professional athlete fighting for the heavyweight championship of the world. Sure he was in better shape than before but all that says is this man has not been serious about his heavyweight career from the start. For somebody with that much talent, that put up more of a fight in those first 3 minutes than the likes of Briggs, Johnson and Peter combined have managed in 20 odd, it's all just depressing.
Also, imo, the weight definitely contributed to the injury. I know somebody who shattered an ankle and was told by the doctor that if they weren't such a fat arse, then it wouldn't have happened (might not have been those exact words, I dunno, I wasn't there, but like to use them for storytelling purposes)
Also, Danny Williams, as bad shape as he got himself in, at least it was fairly evenly distributed throughout his body with his fat arse and legs. Not like Solis and his chicken legs trying to carry a hippo
Exactamundo. Or something.

It's boxing... a fight can last 12 seconds or 12 rounds. There are no guarantees - and that's why we love it.Andypittcov wrote:Irrelevant!! Tend to agree with Horse. Sure everyone was disappointed, but it's the market that demands rematches. If Solis was up on points after 9-10 rounds and it happened, people would probably call for it, but as it is I'm sure a line will just be drawn under it and all parties will move on. Vitali will be done in a year or two anyway, and Solis has his excuse to trade off until then.Horse wrote:He lost. Re: Klitschko v Solis - spoiler
Could be valid points. Some are saying he did well in the round and clearly came to win. And actually, they're right. Of course he'll come to win, and take the win if he can get it, but that's not the same as expecting/preparing to win. Like McNeeley and Francis steaming in to Tyson. They were never likely to win, but they rolled the dice, and in the probable event of losing, at least it won't go long.Coco wrote:
Look at the shape he is in!!
He had not trained, he had not taken this challenge seriously.
The reason fighters go into looking so apprehensive and focused is because they are mentally prepared to put themselves through 12 rounds of hell.
Fat boy was so relaxed because he knew he was having an early night.
When he went down he held and pointed to his knee, didn't even grimace in pain, and we are supposed to believe he has ruptured ligaments!!
I am more likely to believe McGuigan that Fat Boy was in fantastic shape!!
Come back Audley, all is forgiven!

I think a rule should be brought in forbidding anybody with boobs or a spare tyre fighting for a world title. It is a disgrace to the sport.

What gets me is that after "the best pro training camp he's had" the boy is nearly eighteen stone, right? So, WTF does he walk around at???
That, I believe, is the reason his knee went "pop", years of strain hauling vast amounts of bulk around.
As for demonstrating the fearsome punching power of Big Klit, I can only answer that with two words: "Shannon Briggs" (cue more wonderful theories about how steroids improved Shannon's chin, just like all those other guys down the years whose chins were improved in the same fashion).
Some people are genetically predisposed to weaknesses in certain areas i.e. knees. Granted carrying round 250lbs plus and doing whatever he does in training is not going to help but having a pre-fight injury to his knee would bear out that perhaps he's had previous problems and it's slightly disingenuous to say that his knee popped because he's fat.
As for Vitali's power, I don't really think that's in question?
Is Solis genetically pre-disposed to pies?

That's the full view. Despite coming in at a lighter weight, Solis has been carrying too much for years now. He's a clear candidate for bursitis and other related problems in his knees if he does much running. Continuing would've been foolish without the ability to load punches.
As for the knockout, I think Solis moved his left foot forward after his right hand for a follow-up; he expected Klitschko to either eat the shot or retreat farther away. Seeing Vitali plant his feet at a closer range than expected, he realised he had to put his foot down sooner - squarer - to roll. He took the punch and it had an effect, though I don't believe a serious one. However, the damage from crouching was done.
Therefore I feel it was a genuine win, since Vitali caused the weight-bearing crouch and subsequent injury by standing his ground for the counter.

I'm sure he was originally aiming for the red, but was made to pull up short on the blue. That's a huge danger for Haye. Against a shorter and lighter man, Vitali can plant himself after a lunging miss, knowing that the attacker requires more leverage for a hurtful follow-up than he's allowing them. Because his head is higher, he can cover up and 'roadblock' your momentum. As ever, body shots from the shorter-armed fighter are called for. The young Tyson's left to the body would've worked a treat.

Re: Klitschko v Solis - spoiler
There's no denying that Solis was not trained for a fast, hard 12 round bout. There must be some trepidation in coming in too light against either of the Klitshko brothers; who have just about every physical attribute in spades. If Solis had come in very trim, he'd have been pushed around; too heavy and he looks like a slob. The punch that hit him must have been very hard. Does anyone think that Solis holds a shot better than Haye?

I don't think the Dr would have lied and he clearly motioned to his knee when on top - not just when on the floor.oliverfennell wrote:You mean it was completely fabricated?stujones wrote:Injury kind of reminded me of Tyson's vs Williams.

Was that the same doctor that diagnosed Tyson's broken back?

I don't knowScottrf wrote:Was that the same doctor that diagnosed Tyson's broken back?
It was a pretty geniune injury, and thats why there there were quotes from the hospital - if the sugery didn't take place then there could have been all kind of libelous cases.
It was only Tyson who claimed he broke his back, it is only Dirrell (and some Dr who he'd forgotton the name about) who claim about the neuro issues and so far, not been any hospital report regarding Audley's shoulder after the Sprott fight. Now I aim suggesting that any of these are fabrication - but when there is a hospital quote PR quote from a surgeon - then I would pretty much guarentee he had an op. I mean, thats why we are all universal in that Solis suffered injuries.

Yep, pictures of a guy who allegedly suffered a knee injury that was so severe that he had to be carted around in a wheelchair, wearing a cast from ankle to thigh, yet could fight hard for two more rounds, walk down the ring steps and all the way back to his dressing room unassisted.stujones wrote:I don't knowScottrf wrote:Was that the same doctor that diagnosed Tyson's broken back?but this one was a geniune Dr who performed surgery on Tyson after the Williams fight. No offence, but I think it could be naive to say a quote must be legit just because it came from a doctor in a hospital. Any profession is corruptible with enough money.
That's not a comment on Solis, by the way. I don't really have an opinion on that. But when a cash cow like Tyson is involved, I can easily imagine there's enough money to conjure up any story to safeguard the investment. On top of that he was the kind of fighter with fans loyal enough to believe (and take as gospel truth) anything they were fed, so long as it wasn't that Tyson could be beaten legitimately.

Re: Klitschko v Solis - spoiler
As much as there was a clear problem with Audley against Sprott, there was with Solis against Klitchsko - there was a clear and obvious problem with Tyson vs Williams. The man couldn't throw with the leverage. Yeah sure, lets get the theory that Tyson was a bully boy and when the going got tough, he got going and lost every fight he lost more than 4 rounds rounds.
However, it was clear he wasn't throwing his punches problem when well on top, dominating the fight. I don't think Tyson was clever enough to think "oh - looks like Danny boy's going to take my punches - I'm going to fecked in 2 more rounds - oh shit I'm going to lose... I know less feign an injury stop throwing punches with leverage and throw punches square on so people will more likely buy that, than if I just collapse and cry injury after the fight"
Lets question the integrity of Shelley Finkel (oh okay got me there!), Freddie Roach, the Surgeon (who was a geniune Surgeon) and the Hospital - all because it doesn't add up cause Tyson is usually a shit house who always makes excuses for his loses (what was his excuse for the Lewis one??, or the McBride one). His broken back was something he said for a win and I don't think anyone bought that.
BTW, both myself and my brother had fluid on the knee and that resulted in ankle to thigh cast... not sure if it was good medical practice but thats what we had - and had it for 6 weeks (right pain in the arse).
Of course it was a geniune injury - you only need to see how he was throwing the punches. What investment was Tyson at that stage of his career - he went from the first Sky box office fight and one fight after Williams Sky didn't even pick up his fight.

Any truth to the rumour that Oliver was surgically removed from Audley's anus last month?

All of this 'how come he could stand/walk then?' is a load of bollocks.
Different injuries, different effects, different reactions. Some people can, some can't.

Yeah - I had doubts at first about the severity of Solis' but no doubt it was very geniune. Another massive effect is adrenaline - people can continue on this.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:All of this 'how come he could stand/walk then?' is a load of bollocks.

Its a genuine injury, as was Dirrels againt Abraham.
Anyone who states otherwise is wrong.
Solis's knee went its as simple as that.
