Agree with the majority on here.
Look, we are British, we dont like glamour, we dont like flying carpet entrances, we dont like confidence.
What we want is a good old fashioned boxer to walk to the ring, no music, head down having been given just an apple and orange for xmas and a few nuts, coupled with a right hander for being a cheeky beggar.
DeGale is very good, he's confident, he does not meet this stereotype therefore we want him to lose. We like Groves, he's the good guy, he's not with the nasty promoter, he's on the outside essentially looking in.
He says the right thing at the right time on a boxing programme we all watch.
We ignore his less than stellar chin, and his opponents obvious skill and choose to focus on Degale's 'arrogance' and therefore want him to win so much we make a case for him to do even though the evidence says otherwise.
We whinge that we dont get enough 50/50 fights, we whinge about a lack of mainstream coverage of our sport, then whinge when 2 guys, DeGale especially make an effort to sell the fight to the masses.
We whinge, whinge, whinge, we do so because we are British.
Degale KO4 - over and out
Has degale got the worst attitude in boxing ???
Re: Has degale got the worst attitude in boxing ???
His attitude stinks. Johnny Nelson was a right cock as well on that Ringside show.
I'm looking forward to the fight, but not because DeGale is a complete pratt but becuase it's two stand out prospects boxing for the British title.
Groves was right when said he's being written off for this fight...that is largely the case, but win or lose I'm sure this will be DeGales hardest fight to date.

Got to agree with that. It was sheer stupidity, with both Groves and Dagale sitting next to him, to say something along the lines of "both fighters were great amatuers but one has progressed much better as a pro". Groves was right to bite and actually did well not to over do it with his reaction. Most people i suspect would have told him to shut his ignorant mouth.THEBUTCH wrote:Johnny Nelson was a right cock as well on that Ringside show.

fck the yanks anyway, they big up andre ward and he's a fckin hugger..if calzaghe was one of theirs they would kiss his rrrrrs! the powerbase of boxing is moving to europe, the yanks will not be the big players in boxing within the next 20 years or so...then no one will give a sht about what they think..they will be happy tho, watching grown men roll about on the floor with each other as MMA is their new love and boxing is a poor second to it overthere..lefty wrote:I very much doubt americans will warm to degale,he has that kind of slapping style that calzaghe was hated by the yanks for having!jameswilson wrote:Americans love that shit tho. And that crappy way he raises one arm when his name gets announced, Yanks absolutely lap that shit up, it's not enough for an American to just do something they have to attach some stupid line/signature move onto it all WWF style.carlbcfc wrote:I don't think DeGale has the quick wit & vocabulary of Naz, Eubank etc..
Anyway, Controversy Creates cash. It just does not feel right though for some reason. Maybe stopping that silly victory dance will be a start.
Thing is it's clearly an act what he is doing, the pair of them were playing the game. After the fight barring real controversy they will be respectful with each other in the post fight interviews. Then once Degale goes on to take the Americans on he will royally piss them off and we will no doubt all love him because he is winding them up so much.
Re: Has degale got the worst attitude in boxing ???
really? I didnt see it like that - it appeared to me that Groves is happy to let Degale wind himself up, Groves looks like he has the mental battle won already and is hoping to keep Degale unsettledhurlock wrote: groves has turnt into a mouse & it doesnt seem his plan to wind degale up.at the back of his mind he prob thought it would never happen.

I like someone who's brass and arrogant, Wrists. But there's two stipulations here; one is that they have to back up what they say, which DeGale has done, and secondly, the have to be good at it, which DeGale quite clearly isn't. He comes across as a little prick, rather than someone who puts a smile on my face.

I find him quite incredibly dull, to be honest.
You cant teach/learn charisma and he just hasnt got it.
He has that "turn over" heat. You don't care if he wins or loses, you just want him to piss off.
Compare him to Chris Eubank and you will see hats wrong with boxing these days.
