These two big rivals have already met twice in the last two years for the English title but now they are helping each other in preparation for their next fights.

"I’ve travelled down to London this week and it has been worth it, the sparring has been great, we are both helping each other out for our upcoming fights, mine against Chisora and his against David Price, which will be a British title eliminator."
"I’m training hard and in great shape and feel really focused and looking forward to getting it on with Del Boy." Added Fury

Oooh who will be the promoter! The suspense is killing me!With just three weeks to go until we find out who will promote the British Heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora
Part of me hopes this fight doesn't happen as I think HS Press' post count could go through the roof

Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
I have got that feeling that allegedly will win it too in my opinion and then stick on a potentially awesome bill. As for Tyson Fury sparring John McDermott it does make sense when you look at it. McDermott is fighting a tall man in David Price although it is argued that Price is a more technically gifted fighter than Fury, and Fury sparring a shorter fight in Derek Chisora who is built like your proverbal out house.

Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
Hope FW doesn't get this as his last couple of SFN cards have been absolutely crappy, and dont think he'd put as much effort into promoting it as Henessey would due to his larger and more glamourous names. it would be wasted half way down a piss poor PPV no doubt.
Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
dont forget HS has won some other big purse bids lately - they're not shy about going for it when there's a big fight up for grabs.
Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
But according to Macklin as soon as Hennessy won the bid he/his manager knew the fight wouldn't happen. What's the point in winning a bid if you can't deliver?danfoster wrote:dont forget HS has won some other big purse bids lately - they're not shy about going for it when there's a big fight up for grabs.
Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
Methinks allegedly might get this fight (if it happens at all) on July 2nd underneath Hayemaker's PPV date.
Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
for all that Chisora is the British HW champion I dont think he is a massive figure to the public yet so you could be right... but even that truncated Gavin-Lomax card sold out York Hall, Chisora-Fury in there would take the roof off, even sans undercardfuntime wrote:Hope FW doesn't get this as his last couple of SFN cards have been absolutely crappy, and dont think he'd put as much effort into promoting it as Henessey would due to his larger and more glamourous names. it would be wasted half way down a piss poor PPV no doubt.
Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
Chisora got a great reception at the Mag 7 card.
This fight is much bigger than the York Hall.

somewhere inbetween the York Hall and the O2 then, lol.orbtastic wrote:Chisora got a great reception at the Mag 7 card.

Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
They could do the lower tier of the 02, like they do at the MEN for smaller fights.
More likely would be the arena that FW owns, I can't remember the name of it. The one in Docklands. Or the Excel arena.

Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
Ask yourself this: would an HS press release mention the purse bid sitiation TWICE if they weren't relatively confident of winning them?
Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
Rumour is it could be May 21 at the O2

Chisora will do a number on Fury if it happens.
Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
Do you mean the London Arena? That's no more - didn't realise FW had some sort of stake in it.orbtastic wrote:They could do the lower tier of the 02, like they do at the MEN for smaller fights.

FW seems to like and use the Excel as of late - despite people's moans it's not a bad arena IMO.

Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
I still favour chisora myself at the mo but it will be a good fight.I dont think sparring mcdermott really prepares you for chisora in my opinion, yes they're both of a similar height and built but chisora has alot of upper body movement which you dont see from mcdermott plus he likes to fight on the inside more than john does.Londonirish wrote:MatthewS wrote:somewhere inbetween the York Hall and the O2 then, lol.orbtastic wrote:Chisora got a great reception at the Mag 7 card.

It was Fwank's arena! He was behind it from scratch.MacTavish wrote:Do you mean the London Arena? That's no more - didn't realise FW had some sort of stake in it.orbtastic wrote:They could do the lower tier of the 02, like they do at the MEN for smaller fights.

And me....
Chisora is British to Euro title level, while Fury is domestic level at best IMO.
We'll see

Re: Fury sparring McDermott ahead of Chisora fight
Chisora is a top level world fighter isn't he? Or else why would the Klitcko's be interested in fighting him
