boxing photo wanted

does anybody know any sites were i can get photos of the following boxers johnny basham,carl gizzi,billy walker,sammy mccarthy and welsh flyweight champion of the 30,s bob fielding from wrexham,i dont want to pay too much as copies will do. also any stuff on johnny basham e.g.posters,photos,programmes etc and anything on carl gizzi,thanx appreciate if anyone can let me know sites,or private collectors

Said this before, elsewhere.

If you want genuine photographs of old fighters that will look great framed, at fairly low cost. Just look on ebay for wire photo or wirephoto. You can get some amazing photos.

thanx for gettin back,yes have seen the fight of johnny with kid lewis as i have it,also thanx for e-bay tip,what is wire photo though ?

If you see any old black and white fight, they had the press there with the cameras with the huge flash bulbs. Obviously back then it might take days to get a photo sent back to the newspaper to print. They sent them via "wire" i.e. telegraph, which was just an old system that pre-dated fax machines.

They still carried on with them into the 80s but the technology was different.

Anyway, it's a good way of picking up "original" photos of fights. Just look on ebay - search wire photo boxing and you'll see what I mean. Most of them are cheap too. Trust me, they look great.

Carl Gizzi used to clean my windows mate, know him well. From Rhyl myself so I can probably help you if you want to PM me your details.

What about the new breed? Doran? Davies? Hughes? Lovell? Have you any of Eddie Lloyd? From Rhyl, fought Billy Schwer..
