Increase the number of judeges per fight

Post by Josh1111 »

I have just mentioned this on another thread but thought it deserved one of its own.
Why dont we have more judges, 5, 7 or even 9 judges. This would surely help the sport get rid of the terrible decisions?

Thoughts?? :bag: :bag: :bag: :bag: :bag: :bag:

I don't know, maybe we could have a premium rate phoneline and the public vote for the winner.

I've added a few more punch bags just for you.

Why is it a bad idea?

Instead of 3 people who haven't got a clue what's going on, you'll have 5, 7 or 9.

Three is bad enough, nine is ridiculous.

One judge with half a brain would do for me

Can you imagine having them all sat around the outside of the ring like they're at a board meeting. There would be even more confusion.

You could have more than one IJL at ringside, you could have nine of them!

They've suggested it in MMA too. Neither solves the problems of some judges being consistently effing clueless.

A much better idea if the Premier League concept, fornicate up and you go back to working on less games/fights.

Or just make them watch The Only Way Is Essex on repeat with the Philadelpia woman repeating "Lovely" in their ear on endless loops until they see the error of their ways.

That's officially the best idea...

Jeff Brazier, Sue Perkins, Paul Tonkinson and Haddaway can be the 'celebs'

Priceless mate, job done.

There's actually a simple solution...just make the existing three judges more publicly accountable for their scorecards. Not in a public hanging kind of way, but where a scorecard is vastly off the other 2 or is significantly at odds with public opinion (which can fairly easily be gauged these days), the BBBC should ask the ref (privately) to explain his reasoning and the results of this "meeting" should be made public (or at least provided to the affected boxers and their teams). I'm not saying this should be used to set up lynch mobs, but just demonstrate that the BBBC are on top of things and are seen to be tackling any scoring problems and anomalies.

Most people can accept mistakes if based on an honest assessment; people can't accept systematic inadequacies that probably resulted in IJLs card.

screw the judges, all neutrals in the audience should be given an electronic key pad to vote for the winner, the boxer with the most votes wins.

Before this a lie detector test should take place before people are issued with a key pad to determine whether they are actually neutral or not.

This should work.

Very good idea. Better than mine from what people have said on here. Something needs to change though, very much doubt it will though

Agree. Same as footy needs to be - refs and judges/officials need to be approachable by the Press on their decisions, and rated by the Board as to their performance. A bad score for a fight should see the tape reviewed by a panel of the best performing refs, and if they say they cant see how he got to those decisions then he moves down the pecking order in terms of how busy he is and how important his fights are, the biggest fights should be overseen by the most competent men, end of.
