Skelton looks to retire Williams

Post by Max Molyneux »

Skelton says he's like Dynamite. Will it turn into the war like they both say?

I pick Skelton to win by stoppage and I expect to see fireworks. He will retire Williams. Hope I´m wrong though, but the Tyson fight aside (and saturday demonstrated the value of that win), Williams just doesn´t seem to perform inside the ropes anymore.

Can´t wait for this one.

Good question, I very much doubt it. He was an ex kick boxer and I think focused on that over boxing for most of his 20's.

No amateur career.

I dont think it will make any difference here, I think he's going to walk straight through Williams. Williams will fold when he realises he cant stop Skelton coming forward.

Skelton come wading in, with not the best defence in the world and he comes in square. Open to a big Williams right hand.

Skelton has the looks of a decent chin, but Williams has the power to KO anybody with one punch if he get caught right and I can see him catching Skelton right in a toughman style thriller (almost a replay of Williams vs Potter).

I like it how Skelton says he might box him and teach him a lesson, now I've seen most of Skelton's fights and he looks like he couldn't outbox a disabled midget. He just comes forward slugging away and leaves himself wide open for straight right hands.

If Williams turns up in the right frame of mind and in shape (which is always a doubt) I think he Ko's Skelton in 2 rounds.

  Dynamite from the one punch boxer, walk forward arms swinging like he is drowning. Plod Plod Plod

Williams shows us that the Tyson fight wasnt a one moment wonder and shows us he has the heart like he did against Potter & the chin against Tyson.

Stops Skelton for a big Fight against Auldey Harrison :TU:

What was Skelton's kickboxing record? That would explain how he could start boxing in his mid 30's and have picked it up so quick. Most guys who start in their mid 30's would forever be a tomato can.

Now I don't know much about Skelton beyond what I have read and his record...but record by record I think WIlliams has it.

Ofcourse as with all fights, the mental aspect is big. Is WIlliams recovered from the beating he took from Vitaly?

It was a fight that went on WAYYYYY to long, and his corner should have stopped. I can not believe how bad his corner was for that fight. Disgusting, and it may cost Williams down the road.

But if WIlliams is okay, and is not mentally busted (and he already got panic attacks before fights, so who knows how bad he is now) than he should out box this cat.

I wish I could see this fight. Play by play here at boxrec? :D

Or is that too much to ask? :(

You would be my favorite brit! :P

He still got wobbled a few times by old Tyson. No shame there but apparently his shots were bouncing off McBride who has no chin to speak of. All this crap that it was the old Tyson for 2 or 3 rounds against Williams is clap trap.

Williams still has the same chin he's always had. Wobbled and hurt by Sprott, bounced around the ring by Samil Sam, wobbled by Klitschko jabs.

I think its a close fight early but Skelton will just keep coming and coming.

Tyson was doing 2 mins 30 rounds on the pads in prep for Williams. Fenech had him doing 30 second rounds for McBride.

Skelton showed against Big Bob that he can take a heavy shot but Mirovic didn't follow it up as well as Williams could.

Predicting a Williams fight where he's fighting at this level is simply pot luck. We know that Skelton will come in fit and we know that he'll swarm. Williams offers so many imponderables.

i think Skelton got knocked out by Jerome Lebanner in K1, where he had a middling record. But his lack of schooling in the Queensburies is always apparent and could let him down against a good pure boxer like Williams.

The shots Tyson hit Danny with were full on power haymakers, which I think would of KO'd Skelton.

I think Danny will come in heavy like he did with Tyson, ending in a horrible awkward slug fest.

I'm surprised by how few are picking Danny.

Best form vs best form this is no contest. Danny every time. You can't guarantee Williams will produce another non performance.

I remember Mirovic landed a right which stopped Skelton in his tracks. He matched Matt for strength if not power and gave him his toughest test yet before his arse gave out.

I think DW may come out and try and fight Skelton's fight to prove a point. If he shows half the commitment he did in the Tyson fight. His accuracy and technique grind Skelton down by halfway.
But he could put in a bizarre display as in Sprott 3 and try to make it appear that he MS is not in his class and clown around. That Danny gets mauled to a late TKO.

It's a shame that the expectations of Danny are so low but he's only himself to blame i suppose.

If Williams is in the mood for a fight then Skelton is in for a hiding, no two ways about it. Different class.

Two punched knockouts against him. Doesn't look great for a boxer.

Although only losing a split call to Hoost...

KO loss to Le Banner is ok, he hits like a freight train, the Filho one is a bit more worrying.. although it must be remembered the dynamics of K1 are different... its 3 (or 5) rounds at full speed where the general idea is to knock the other guy out at all costs....

statistically his K1 record is poor but the wins over alexey "the scorpion" ignashov and michael macdonald shows he must have been a godd K1 fighter. And yeah, Gettin ko'd by jerome lebanner is no disgrace.

K1 records are often poor as you have the best fighting the best all the time... ie no padding of records

How hard were they really in the big scheme of things? They looked like haymakers but were they really that hard is all I am saying. We're talking about shot to fornicate Tyson here who hasnt KO'd anyone of note in 10 years.

Williams' chin is not that good at all. See the Klitschko and Sam fights. Neither are huge punchers and they were bouncing him around.

I'm not saying Skelton hits as hard as either but using Williams taking Tysons punches as a gauge is misleading as Tyson's shots are not all that these days in my opinion.

Klitchsko isn't a pure puncher, but he throws a hell of a lot of shots. coming in nearly 20 stone, Williams couldn't get out of the firing line. Klitchsko does his damage that way, his punches just keep on coming.

The shots Tyson was landing were with full bodyweight and rotation behind them, they weren't arm punches. for a couple of rounds Tyson really looked the business, I'm sure he wasn't hitting as hard as he was in his mid 20's, but he was putting everything into those shots.

To be fair to Danny I think Tyson slipped a further 40% after their fight and was certainly a much more shot fighter vs Mcbride than he was against Williams.
Danny should beat Skelton as he has all the superior technical tools and is the better puncher but it really depends on what frame of mind Danny is in, does he still have the hunger after the Vitali fight or is this really a last payday fight. If he's not 100% I can see Skelton out mauling Williams and winning by a stoppage in the later rounds.

Hes known as the best K1 fighter to never to win the world championship to be entirely fair ... LeBanner has a big heart but a very weak chin wich plagues him ... he does have a amazing technical ability and alot of KO power tho so your right losing to him isnt a shame.
