I'm well impressed- a live fight 5 minutes after the show starts, Lancs V Yorks for a title. INCREDIBLY well matched.

Dawson looks good so far, but he's not had much ring time in the last few years only 2 rounds before tonights fight. Will he have the fitness to see him trough the 8 rounds?

Dawson takes round 3, with better cleaner work, so I have it 29-29.

I'd say, though, Dawson is the one who , if he is to win, needs to do so very clearly (hometown bias etc)

Interesting fight, Dawson has a strange look about him doesn't he? Looks really gormless and plodding but still seems to be doing ok in the fight. Askin looks ok but nowt special got it level after 4 rounds.

Dawson stopped, could see that coming he looked knackered. Low workrate from 4th round onwards just didn't look match fit.

Thought Ref did the right thing there, Dawson was tired and although the round was ending i couldn't see him coming back. Dawson will come again if he wants to, and with a couple of wins , i could see a rematch

Askin didn't impress me at all, he just looks a big banger with a leaky defence. Good finish though really stepped it up in the last few rounds and landed the bigger shots!
