I was reading about some of the great champions and I read about the Carney-McAuliffe fight and how Carney was robbed of victory by unruly McAuliffe fans looking to save their money. The referee ruled a draw after 74 rounds. This was for the undisputed lightweight championship of the world at the time. That must have been a devastating turn of events for Carney to not get the title in a fight he was winning. What happened to him after the McAuliffe fight? Was he bitter? I just find it ironic that McAuliffe is looked at as a great undefeated champion and in the Hall of Fame, yet I've heard very little about Carney. How did his career unfold after the Carney fight? Didn't he get robbed of the British lightweight as well against Dick Burge? Should he be in the HOF?
