I'm fairly certain it's the case yes. Showtime had it in the original contract that the semi's & final would take place in North America. It's nutreal and this region of Canada has a repuation for coming out for big fights. There was 7,000 for Bradley-Holt a few years back. I'm sure Bute will be there stoking interest down the road too.

Shame from a British point of view i'd of thought in late May they could of got 10,000 in The City Ground.

It's so frustrating that a top quality fighter who happens to be exciting to watch is not available to be watched by more people in Britain.

Something needs to be sorted out as Froch is in his 34th year & likely does not have that long left at the top.

British fight fans are going to miss Froch when he's gone & in the case of the casual fights fans; some of them won't even know he's been! :witzend:

Looking at the story, it just seems like Carl is living in hope. Showtime calls the shots here.

Aye. I'm starting to wonder if it was really all worth it with the number of times the lad has been able to defend the belt in the UK.

I'd guess that Showtime has told Johnson; Carl is still holding out some hope that he can get things changed.

The AC local paper has got it with a named source.
AC ticks a lot of boxes. Means it has semis on both coasts, can do press events in New York for the maximum media coverage and where Showtime is based, plus they gets big casino to sponsor it. Shame about the venue.

Reading between the lines, maybe it is AC but Carl wanted to make the announcement himself and has been beaten to the punch?

It could just be that Carl remembers to farce with Herning/Copenhagen and the ever changing date

Venue is so unfair, 2800 capacity so much for the super six being a mega event

That a really small number of people. Surely a bigger venue can be used than this.

How come Froch is saying AC is not confirmed when the US media are sure the fight is taking place there. The venue's being booked and everything.

A little bit like the AA situation when it seemed like the whole world except Froch or Hennessy knew months in advance that Froch was going to have to go to Germany - They played a blinder to get in Helsinki.

It's a mystery. He is involved in genuinely exciting, well matched fights with world class operators and from what I have seen, he holds more intelligence than the rest of our headline acts, speaks well and is a bit of a character who isn't afraid to chat a bit too.

Really is a mystery.

He should be a household name.
at the end of the day he should have gone for a few free sky sports fights and then gone for big time money on sky ppv.

He should have this one on 'regular' Sky Sports and look for the expected final versus Ward to be on Box Office.

Surely he wouldn't lose too much even having the Johnson fight on Sky Sports, can't imagine he made a huge deal from Primetime. His Super Six TV money is largely coming from Showtime.
