completely agree with you on this one!
cmon saying nelson will be the "face of boxing for many years" is ridiculous!
he will be as much the "face of boxing" as mark bright is the voice of football.
he may become competent and consistent but like i say he has the makings of a very good pundit if he starts to have confidence in giving his opinion without fear of the sack for not towing the company line....and if we can hear more of his own experiences as nelson is a inspirational man in his own right........but tv anchor cmon the jurys out.....but like u say the man deserves a chance its very early days
Nelson was actually quite good during the various OB's i.e. the ones with Spencer Oliver etc was very good. I just cant stand him as a pundit, talks some crap. Mumbles cliche-ridden lines without much logic, it is literally as though he is on autopilot sometimes.
Nelson, McCrory and Piper should never be used again on fight nights. Woodhall is excellent. Spencer Oliver is good too. Colin Hart is always worth a listen too (on the rare occasion when they get him on).
it would be nice to see more ex fighters on a guest basis on the panel.i like jonny but he does steer away from the fighter image abit too much.
anyone who goes on gets slated. you cant please all the people all the time. we are human, we cant live in harmony.
Come on, poor thread title. By all means discuss the merits of presenters and commentators but this is out of order!
Incidentally, I noticed sky included Nelson v Thompson on one of their recent 20 years of sky review shows. Wonder if it would have made it if Nelson wasn't an employee..? The James Waring fight didn't make it into the 92 version!
