Do you have access to the results from the final night of the tournament? The show in Yonkers Raceway...there were actually a few finals bouts on the card...

I'm deff going to one night of the finals...maybe 2.

I saw a few Semi Final matches on different dates and I wonder how some of these fighter got that far.... Chellamar Benard (World Class BC) should have tapped out as soon as the bell for round 1 rang. Your right he had no business being in a ring anywhere near Marcus... LOL

Reading posts like these annoy the hell outta me.. They made it there because they won their fights to get there.. Making an open class final in the NYGG is not an easy thing to do.. Regardless on how they lose show the kids some respect.. I know of guys that are ducking the 178 open class.. these guys got the the heart to go in there and compete against the best.. The guy had a tough loss hes got enough to deal with then to come on here and read som guys on a computer talking smack saying he didnt belong in the semi. He was there for a reason. show som dam respect SMFH

Marcus Browne is a Superior talent and the fighter, Chellamar Benard (World Class BC) did show heart but did lack the skills to compete with Browne as many before him lacked also.
But take it easy Jaywaters just some lite hearted comments at NYAmateur90 on a blog... Don't let my fun "annoy the Hell outta" you it's not that deep.
If I didn't respect boxing and boxer a like a would not spend my time following the sport and paying to see it. But I do think as a tournament moves forward towards the quarter finals and semi finals the match ups should get more compelling but I saw a lot of one sided match ups this year in the semi's not just that fight.

Heart and smarts are to different things the process to become an open fighter is 2 golden gloves or other major tournaments as a novice. You could be 0-2 or 1-2 and now your open with no choice that 3rd year. This year the 178 open had about 8 fighters that's how a fighter that's not ready ends up in the ring against a far Superior fighter with little chance to win and a good chance of getting KO'd. Heart will get you hurt it's the process that I'm questioning not a fighters heart.
Now you rolling with D Lee? we all good then :box: that's a good match up....

Nah..... I called the daily news on Monday and they said that they have not decided what weight classes are going on what night. The person said they would announce it in two or three days that's Wednesday (today) or Thursday. I know a few of the boxer as of Tuesday night noun of them knew when they were fighting.

My Picks For The Finals :bag:

123 Lb. Open- Frankie Garriga vs Jaime Estrada
Frankie beat a slick good fighter in Titus Williams in his Semifinals bout...Estrada beat former champ Trevis Hall in a close bout...Frankie (if he's in shape) should take it though in my opinion...he did look tired in his Semifinals bout but I think he's more skilled than Estrada...Estrada does come to fight though and keeps the pressure on you...

141 Lb. Open- Patrick Day vs Cristino Ceballo
Going with Day...he's a workhorse and fights 3 mins of every round...only seen Ceballo in sparring...Day beat him in the Metros a few months ago...Day beat some very good fighters in Wesley Ferrer and Carlos Teron to make it here...Ceballo may switch up strategy but I'm still picking Day to win

152 Lb. Open
Christopher Galeano - Mendez BC
Jeremy Fiorentino - Win or Die BC

Going with Fiorentino...he's been here before and he's real active and has a good style to score points...Galeano beat some tough fighters to get here and has a good height advantage but I don't think it'll be enough...Jeremy won a bout between the two in the past.

132 Lb. Open
Louis Cruz - Atlas Cops N Kids
Marcos Suarez II - Atlas Cops N Kids
Interesting bout...both guys from the same gym...I'm sure they know who's the better of the two...I think Suarez will win but I'm pulling for Cruz...Suarez has more of a points scoring style...Suarez won 123 Open last year...Cruz won 132 Novice...Cruz beat better fighters to get here this year though IMO...

114 Lb. Open
Hamzah Alnuzaili - Atlas Cops N Kids
Juan Roman - Win or Die BC
Only seen Alnuzaili once...last year's bout in the Finals...Juan Roman looked real good in his Semifinals bout...I think Alnuzaili will win a close decision...

178 Lb. Open
DeVaun Lee - New Legends BC
Marcus Browne - Atlas Cops N Kids
I'm pulling for Lee but he would have to do something remarkable to beat probably the highest touted amateur in the state in Browne...Marcus looked very strong in his semis bout but he can be reckless...DeVaun is slower, smaller, and not as strong though...and he keeps his hands a bit too low for my liking.....If DeVaun can survive the early onslaught that Marcus brings he has a chance possibly...Marcus scored a devastating KO last year on DeVaun which had the whole place on its feet...I'm sure Marcus will look to do the same in the Finals...too big and he's faster than Lee...DeVaun has been here before but I don't think he'll catch Gold this year...

165 Lb. Open
Herve Duroseau - Freeport PAL
Raul Nuncio - Glen Cove BA
Haven't seen much of Nuncio but plenty of Duroseau...from what I hear, Raul does put a lotta pressure on his opponents and can be awkward...I don't think he'll have as much success against seasoned veteran Duroseau(although Nuncio is a veteran too)...Duroseau is difficult to hit when he's using his legs and boxing...Duroseau has had some difficulties with left handed fighters in the past but I think his skill level is too superior to Nuncio...Duroseau beat two solid fighters in Johnny Briones and Peter Reyes to make it here...I think Reyes was a better fighter than Nuncio...only way I see Duroseau losing is if he allows Nuncio to bully him and outwork him on the inside and along the ropes.

Other picks
201 Open-Joseph Williams - Rockaway Ropes BC
132 Novice-Prince Slaughter
123 Novice-Michael Stoute
201 + Open- Iegor Plevako

I'd be suprised if Prince Slaughter doesn't win Novice fighter of the Tournament...he's a lefty with a lotta potential...

I didn't make picks in bouts if I didn't know both opponents or neither...

Obviously I wrote a bit much but I would like to see someone else's picks...

cruz and suarez fought like they didnt want it

galeano and florentino was a close fight till the last 2 minutes were galeano showed that he wanted it the most hammering stright right hands makin jeremy's head bounce back
i was going for jeremy but galeano definitely had it

the last fight was funny
all Iegor Plevako did was make Elijah Thomas chase him for about a minute and a half then elijah got tired and was getting hammerd barely surviving the 1st round, then the second round he finished him
